Salt Beef Sandwich - Nap!!
Report The Wizard Of Oz May 27, 2015 9:00 PM BST
As usual, the forum dummies gatecrash a post.

It is a great card Prepared and should be thoroughly enjoyable, plus the weather forecast looks ok.

Like Mange said following Ryan Moore wouldn't do you any damage but I do fancy Vent De Force in the 19.10 big time and 11/4 will be a fair price. I also like Directorship in the last at 10/1 - a good each way play IMO. The 19.45 is an absolute belter for a group 3!

Have a fantastic night, wish I lived closer so I could go!
Report CRM May 27, 2015 9:08 PM BST
Tryster in the 7.45 given the ground must be rattling fast tomorrow, stable chat about him also very positive and he will surely be ready for this so that the yard can see if he is worth persisting with on turf.

Arab Spring may get tapped for toe dropping in trip, ground too fast for western hymn and tullius, eagle top may need this with Ascot his main aim and niceofyoutotellme surely not good enough.

A worthy favourite and will surely go off shorter than 2/1 especially as I suspect tullius might be a nr

I'll be there too ....very much agree with the salt beef sandwich best eaten with a wally and strong English mustard. There's a small ground floor real ale bar in the grandstand at £4 a pint...the choices recently have been punter and tipster. Best to get to the bar as quickly as possible after a race to avoid the queues.
Report foxy May 27, 2015 9:25 PM BST
what is a wally ?

prepared

from a viewing point of view standing the course side of the bookmakers is as good as anywhere I am a national hunt member at sandown but seldom watch a race from members.for the quality of card tomorrow you will be surprised by the size of the crowd, for the national stakes try to make your way over the course there is a small stand by the winning post for that race, the restaurants in esher are ott pricewise but there is a pizza express at sensible prices.all in all there is nowhere better than sandown to go racing have a great night.
Report posy May 27, 2015 9:39 PM BST
A wally is also known as a gherkin.....the best salt beef sandwiches used to be made at the now closed **** tavern under Smithfield market and that is what they were known as.

I am off to sand own tomorrow night, 1st time there for me, what did u mean foxy about the size of the crowd, won't be very big?
If the food is as good as cheltenham's I will be well chuffed! Their pork baguette is special!
Backing Arab spring so far, will suss out the rest in the morning.

Siralex I think there'll be sufficient crowd for you to hear the Sandown roar in the last half furlong...hope you and op have a great time.

Had half an eye on Consort for the Derby but withdrawn but still holds a St James  Palace Stakes entry. Will need to win this to be a serious contender me thinks.

Conceding weight all round but would love to see High Jinx run a big race. Maybe a prep for the Gold Cup.

Have a good night.

Tip for Sandown - buy a train ticket! They had ticket inspectors at both gates at last weeks evening meeting there.

My local track (I shall pretend Kempton even exists) and second only to Goodwood as the finest racecourse in the UK.
Report maleuk01. May 28, 2015 9:56 AM BST
im going as well Grin

Sandown my fav course, and this is the best evening meeting of the year Grin

The local brew in the grandstand tipster and they have a couple of others is good too :).

But im sure as the years go by the distance between the train station and the grandstand gets longer every year Laugh
Report maleuk01. May 28, 2015 10:01 AM BST
cork I was at York when Areen won (won nicely), however the runner up that day Ravenhoe was giving him 10lbs and was beaten further next time out again.

He may go on and improve again, but its a tough race, with some nice looking horses in it.

Cheers for all the replies lads, i see a few others on here are going as well. Wont be difficult to spot me as im going with my 20 stone bald boss and my 18 stone black work mate. Not going by train as my boss is driving. Will try and have a look on here during the racing so if anyone fancies anything a bit later then post it up. Looking forward to this tonight. Cheers

I don't wish to be indelicate either, but they sound like a right pair of greedy bastards. If you wanted to get noticed, wouldn't it be easier to wear a red carnation instead?
Report prepared83 May 28, 2015 1:03 PM BST
Bouncers Laugh no pal just big lads. The only thing bouncing will be there shirt buttons on the floor. Not trying to get noticed just pointing it out. Im sure they'll both love the salt beef sandwiches Laugh

Having seen the replay of the Chester Cup, Trip To Paris was very impressive considering his position 3 furlongs out particularly the way he quickened past 5 rivals inside the final furlong. So win bet on him. The lay in the race must be Forever Now - can't see how he can possibly turn the form around with Vent De Force who got checked in his run and still quickened past him readily inside the final furlong in his last race at Ascot.

Had a great time last night, backed three winners. Nice course and had a great view from the premier enclosure. Was very busy but didnt take to long to get a pint etc. Had a pulled pork roll with crackling which went down well. Would definitely go again and it was a great little card for a thurs evening. Anyone else who went have any luck? Next trip for me is epsom in july and i believe Madness are playing afterwards. Cheers

Glad you enjoyed it...had a couple of 3/1 winners so covered all costs including supper in the restaurant.Without doubt it's the best of the evening meetings;I hate the music nights which have very low grade races.

Annual membership at Sandown has to be about the best value in UK racing.

Check it out.
Report posy May 29, 2015 8:31 PM BST
I've been a member for years however I've got increasingly annoyed with a lot of the dross flat racing....what I've done this year is take out  annual membership at Ascot and come the autumn taking out combined annual membership covering Kempton and Sandown's national hunt which is terrific value for some top class racing.
Report siralex May 29, 2015 10:59 PM BST
I had a great evening, family loved it, I had 2 winners which gave me a tiny profit. Had the £6.50 pulled pork roll which was quality but not as good as cheltenham's baguette in my view!
Weather was a bonus, met sir Michael stoute and interrupted him having a rather large cigar!
Got out straight away, wasn't overcrowded and all paid for via the jockey club so all in all a top night.
Report jimnast May 30, 2015 6:41 AM BST
