Been like this on Sundays for a few years now. 3 jump meetings only in the flat season is clearly ridiculous.

I would rather them not race on midweek nights and have 4 on a sunday, give the  betting office staff a break etc, but the fobts(fruit machines) keep them at work til 22:00 at night now, what a fecking joke.

the jumps season doesn't end until the end of may
give the jumpers 1 day a week ffs, there are days in the winter with 3/4 a/w cards on same afternoon/evening

Irish and French Group races so that takes care of the top jockeys.

where is it stated that the jumps season ends in may?

i'm not saying you are wrong but have never seen this mentioned anywhere, i assumed it was the end of april, ie when the jockey/trainers champions are decided and the new ones begin?

with regards the fixtures, it just seems daft having a flat race every 5-10 mins some days 5 or 6 domestic meetings and then none at all on a sunday with 3 jumps meets.

The winter is the official time for the aw championship and of course there is no turf flat racing at all for months then whereas jumps fixtures are throughout the year.

I don't think people asking for a domestic flat meeting at the end of may is unreasonable!

officially it ends in april but may is the traditional end of the season (stratford hunter chase card)

officially the jockeys championship is may to october but we all know the season is doncaster to doncaster

I don't think people asking for a domestic flat meeting at the end of may is unreasonable
I agree, but fixture scheduling never has and never will conform to the realms of common sense Laugh

For some strange reason, I always thought that Sedgefield happened to be the first jumps meet of the season, so your post intrigued me to find the real answer.

A day of blessed relief from Metro John's beloved Wolverhampton.

Cannot comprehend why he is so keen on 'Dog racing'.
