Gary O'Brien, on ATR, says - in his summary.

"Under something of a confident ride, to say the least"

the fav weakened badly as evident by how the 3rd and 4th horses closed 'rapidly' on it too after looking out with the washing,

Heffernan couldn't do anything else other than win 'cosily' as if he'd taken a pull, he'd have been handed a huge ban etc,

just chalk it as unlucky in this episode Crazy

A good example of why it is best to play in running.

ANALYSIS

[n]An intriguing maiden[/b] but the market got it wrong as the odds-on favourite was denied by his lesser fancied stablemate in somewhat strange fashion.

BONDI BEACH won despite his rider being at pains not to give him a hard race. For much of the home straight it looked as thought he was going to be a most eyecatching runner-up but he belatedly managed to get by the runner-up in the final stride. Seldom has such a narrow victory been so apparently comfortable.
It looked as though the winner was far superior to the runner-up to the naked eye. He ought to improve plenty for the experience too and could be above-average.

Bantry Bay was all the rage to make a winning debut and, up until a furlong out, it looked like he would do so. However, he was almost certainly flattered by the margin of defeat.

QUOTES
They are two nice horses. One is a front-runner and one can´t get to the front. I got to the front when I wanted to - Seamie Heffernan, jockey.

Obviously feel sorry for any punter that got done here but I'm glad the mafia have taken a hit, good enough for them.

He dropped back until reaching the home straight and was then handed a wide open space on the rails as the others went wide off the bend.

runner-up did weaken timeless.  3rd and 4th were going nowhere and they started closing in.  you've hit the nail on the head though as the very fact it was emptying out so quickly put the jockey on the eventual winner in a very difficult position ...

Wrote this on another thread, but presumably the horse does not sparkle in his work at home. SH did his best to lose today as well, but accidentally on this occasion Grin
