I have to give credit to Alan Johnson for this reasoning of when the election was Lost for Labour
A lot of us saw it .
Cast your mind back to the evening of Thursday 30th April at 8 pm QUESTION TIME on BBC1.
The main 3 Leaders (DAVE ,NICK AND ED) were being grilled in turn by an angry audience .
One guy simply asked ED MILLIBAND 'WILL YOU ADMIT THE LAST LABOUR GOVERNMENT OVERSPENT ?"
Amazingly Ed said "NO"
There was an audible gasp and muttering from most of the audience .
How could any sane person deny that simple fact ?
From that moment the audience seemed to turn hostile and Ed began to wilt and lacked conviction .
Millions watching must have thought that with Ed Balls and Milliband in charge of the nations finances ,they would no doubt Bankrupt us next time given the chance .
The guy in the audience who asked the question deserves a medal .
And that was the moment the election turned in David Camerons favour .
Would others agree ?

Cameron was clever and saved the best till last , playing the english nationalist card and striking fear into voters over a labour/SNP led England struck fear into England
And i also believe many scottish unionists seen knocking Labour out as the best way to keep UK together
Ed was never ever seen as strong enough , even paxman felt guilty about bullying him i think

The election was lost when the Trade Unions voted in Milliband as leader. The days of a left wing Labour Party winning elections is long gone. They need to move to the centre ground.

It was actually when he stumbled when leaving the rostrum.
There is correlation between the fickleness of the electorate and what they assume is bumbling.
There is precedence to this, look it up online how elections have tanked when ppl fall off stages or use the wrong rhetoric etc.

Agreed - along with successive Govts. As was contributing to the mechanisms which enabled it, starting many years ago but accelerating in the 80's credit lead boom.

Labour lost the election when they selected the wrong Miliband as leader.
Nope. David was seen as too much like Blair / New Labour.the fault was a desire to get back to a more socialist party, without clearly having a strategy of how to implement that.
The seeds were planted 5 years ago, when our new government received a letter from Liam Byrne. "NO MONEY LEFT"
Used as a prop perhaps, but safely stored away for this election. Flapped around at every opportunity to remind us of how childish the Labour government were and how little respect they had for our country.

For me it was when he said there would be no limit on immigration. The great British people know we're full.
So I had £20 on Cons to win overall majority at 9.2.

And even better, when the other buffoon Ed (Balls-up) got turfed out, BBC went into meltdown ... maybe now's the chance to see the real Ed - loves football, runs marathons, learning the piano, really clever etc (Laura K...berg & Nick Robinson said).

When you look at the situation in the cold light of day it was obvious Millibrain was unelectable . I said this on two previous threads and backed my judgement up with hard cash on here .
But the Polls kept saying it was neck and neck and this somehow convinced me to CASHOUT on a £1,000 bet . It showed me a cracking profit but would have been double if I had let the bet run .
