Report BlazingWalker March 21, 2015 11:55 AM GMT
ONLINE bookmaker 666bet have had their operating licence suspended while the Gambling Commission undertake a review into the company.

The review has been instigated as the Commission suspect that Metro Play Limited (the licensee) is unsuitable to carry on the licenced activities.

Customers looking to bet with the Isle of Man-based 666bet are greeted with a message on the website that reads: "We will be performing maintenance for the next couple of hours so that our engineers can work to improve your player experience.

"We apologise for the inconveniences caused but we will be back as soon as possible with better services for you."

666bet have made big strides since being formed last year, as the official sponsor of Leyton Orient football club, and betting partner of West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City.

Their advertising campaign featuring former Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp and Nicky Henderson was screened during Channel 4's coverage of the Cheltenham Festival.

Withdrew all funds from this outfit last Saturday. Just checked....funds haven't reached my account. Basturds! Looks as though their Cheltenham promotion of £100 in free bets for new and existing customers was planned with a view to doing a 'runner'. I wouldn't have opened an account with them but for their convincing tv adverts involving Harry Redknapp. Wonder how much he has creamed out of 666?

Heres another example:

Endorsement controversy[edit]
Vorderman had maintained a long-standing endorsement of the debt consolidation company First Plus, an association that ceased in 2007. In 2006 the charity Credit Action attempted to highlight the potential dangers of debt consolidation, calling on Vorderman to stop giving First Plus credibility. Her agent responded that Vorderman had no intention of curtailing the contract for a service which was perfectly legal and offered by an excellent company.[17] When quizzed by The Daily Telegraph in November 2008 Vorderman herself responded with:
"The secured loans market was criticised and it was pertinent to pick me out, because I was a face. I advertised FirstPlus for 10 years. We had something like £1.5billion out on loan and until a matter of months ago there were no repossessions. When that programme [BBC's Real Story] was made, [there were] no repossessions. Did they say that? Funnily enough, no."[29]
Report themightymac March 27, 2015 3:25 PM GMT
Rory McIlroy another. Multi millionaire advertising Credit Cards - the worst debt anybody can have. Do you think he cares or ever thinks about the ordinary people who run up thousands on these bits of plastic and spend the rest of their lives paying back interest? Why don`t they use their celebrity status to endorse, for FREE, products and services which help people other than screw them? Simples, because they are all greedy ********!

The operator last week said in a statement that customers would be paid once its operations had been approved by the UKGC

Does that not imply that they won't pay their customers if their license is withdrawn?  If that is the threat, the UKGC should be going to court and seizing the customer funds account and every other asset they can find, to protect the customers.

Ray Winstone has twice been declared bankrupt, but apart from me using him was just for example purposes and the main point applies more rather than the specifics or final detail, so replace him with anyone else if you like who advertises for a bookmaker and hasn't gone bankrupt, it would still a bit of a stretch to put the blame of Winstone (bankrupt or otherwise) if B3t365 ever did go belly up.

Surely there is a bit of a difference between 365 and Winstone and this 666 mob and Arry and Henderson? 365 are an established company, and I am pretty sure Winstone wasn't advertising for them 15 years ago was he?

This 666 mob were going for how long, before they were in advertising for them for their 'fee'. Surely they have some advisors who look into the product they are advertising beforehand, or is it a case of "money - where do I sign". The pair of them deserve any bad publicity they get from this imo.

Isn't it a catch 22 situation though Magic__Daps in that one of most effective ways for a new player in any market to gain brand recognition is to get a known name to feature in their marketing campaign?

Yet how exactly do you look into a company that is new in the market if they have no previous history in that market to go on? The UK Gambling Commission granted them a licence and presumably (or hopefully) there's some kind of minimum criteria before that happens and so what more can anyone do, whether they be names taking a fee to help promote them or punters deciding to up an account with them?

They (Novigroup) were licensed by the IoM (see link below)so would have got a provisional license from the UKGC automatically under the new arrangements.  The IoM are very strict on the protection of players funds, so if the UKGC supervision  allows losses to occur, it will be very embarrassing for them.
