having just watched its last 4 runs again i cant see why you calling it a ''nutjob'...
yes it races freely in front and spreadeagles the field from a long way out.
its a very slick jumper and there's no telling how good it is.
i can see it error free being clear at the last and coasting in.
by laying you could look very stupid. it looks a superstar.

I think it's too short to back but those calling it a 'nutjob' are being very unfair IMO. Just a free going sort.

What has he beat? Trifolium was just as impressive in the Irish Arkle beating a much better field and only 3.8 seconds slower than UDS on much heavier ground. But he wasnt unbeaten in completed starts and trained by Mullins. There has been numerous impressive winners of the Irish Arkle over the years and I think only 2 have followed up at Cheltenham in the last 30 years.

UDS has been well placed in his career, the Arkle was his first try at a Grade 1 level and it was a Grade 1 in name only, he has been streeting handicappers in Ireland on heavy ground for 2 years.

He has met one legit horse in his career for me and that is the French horse Gemix who is better over further and was giving UDS 7 pounds.

UDS - 15 lengths lead approaching 2 out, 5 lengths clear jumping last, soon ridden and held on gamely

Gemix - snk 2nd 5 lengths 2nd jumping last, ridden and ran on run-in, just failed to get up

Some dreamers think he has earned the right to be 8/11 for an Arkle, 4/7 until recently, and he only has to stand up, they cant see the wood for the 1s.

I accept the opposition isnt the strongest but on paper he is a 7/4 shot at best and when you factor in that he is completely uncontrollable,  untested at the level or on the ground, id be wanting at least 5/2 to even consider him a bet.

If you cant lay this you cant lay anything.

Ask yourself in 2 years time "what about Clarcam" when he is running down the field in some Grade 3 at Down Royal.

Maybe so, but in the here and now; he dished out a good beating to some good horses. Even if Vautour was wrong that day, he beat a very good handicapper in Ted Veale by a wide margin. No mug IMO.

Trifolium had been hammered many times though, & his win was on Sft/Hvy. UDS is practically unbeaten in many races, and his win was on Yld/Sft.

I've backed 'Vibrato Valtat' at 6/1 BOG and with a money back guarantee if 'Un De Sceaux' wins!

Josses Hill at 12/1 with money back if fav wins. This ran a decent race behind Vautour last year. The bigger field will suit, placed in all it races and with Geraghty on board. Fav will only lose if falling, prefer my bet to a place lay which is very negative.

Maybe there is something wrong with my brain, but there is nothing wrong with my heart.

Was a good buzz, thought I had him going to the last.
