I can confirm that this WILL go ahead this year and the first bet or lay will be posted now
As many people know, this began in 2002 and is the highlight of the year for all Betfair forumites. The £30,000 has been won in 8 out of 12 years.
Newcomers, please note:
1. There is no middle ground - by the close of play on Friday, either the £30k will be won or the £5k will be lost.
2. There are no guarantees in racing - 8 times we have won £30k, but 4 times we have lost £5k.
3. Obviously that is a net profit of £180,000 but there are no certainties year on year.
4. All bets or lays are either based on inside information (I place bets in the Far East for "certain people") or my opinion. No clarification will be given on any bet - you can either follow or leave.
5. Obviously you are equally welcome to turn £500 to £3000, or even £50 to £300.......the stakes are entirely your own choice.
6. Ignorant sorts who write "post your bets" will be duly ignored and blocked.
7. And just to clarify I posted as "Grave Dodger" for about 6 years before switching accounts and posting as "GraveDodger" for the past 7 years or so.
8. This is a special gift from me to the world and ONLY operates for Cheltenham. Please do not beg me to do this for other big meetings, or ask me to give you private bets. No matter what money you offer me, all such requests will be met with a polite refusal.
9. The target is £30k from a starting bank of £5k. So that will be £25,000 clear profit. Once the profit is reached, all bets STOP, even if it happens on Day One.
10. There will not be bets in every race, and I will always tell you when the next bet is due to be given out. Most investments will actually be lays.

yes - u r right that we are risking a big chunk on race 1, but we have to take some risks to reach 30k and we could not lay annie power or faugheen so this is the most vulnerable of the short price favs on day one and we need to stick our neck out on this one
there will be stronger lays later in the week - if we survive past day one this year (!!) win or lose then bet number 2 will be in race 2, the arkle!! |

Very difficult to make money laying at Cheltenham ... big fields, chaotic (in the mathematical sense) markets, hugely emotional stuff happening with pricing (generally no logic). Gravedodger is living (??) proof.
Take my advice and just watch and buy a lottery ticket instead. |

club 20 - yes bust after 1 bet in 2014 but won the 30k in 2013
as it says on the opening thread we have succeeded 8 times and lost 4 times - whether you lose after race 1 or after race 24 doesnt really matter the point is that when we lose we lose 5k but when we win we win 25k profit so if we even won 1 year out of 5 we would be in profit, so winning 8 times out of 12 gives nearly £1/4m profit to followers of this thread!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
