As a Dubliner I can only apologise for some of the accents you hear from our 'Country Folk'. My stream of letters to our government to have a moat put around my City, with every non Dub needing special visas to get in, has so far gone unanswered. The struggle continues.

I don't usually have the sound on so I'm not used to hearing them speak, was quite shocked but entertained

reminded of when I arrived at a hotel in Washington D.C, the receptionist LaJinda spoke a version of English I'd never heard before and which was literally unintelligible
Report billybongo March 5, 2015 2:34 PM GMT
hope the mare wins for him. Seems great character

an entertainer and a maverick, even though he  doesnt even realise he is entertaining , thats what makes him so good and a character from a bygone era when image and ego meant very little  .....in an age when  we are short of characters who are natural and not made for TV as most others are ......Mr Winters clearly couldnt give a toss how he looks , sounds or appears ...i would love  him  to one day win a champion hurdle or gold cup ......what a party that would be

You never know Duncan Idaho.
M W trains up near Kanturk, more north Cork than west but north-west would be fair. West Cork has a raw magical beauty to it near the Kerry border.
Nice post Pablo, nearest to that was Goodwood with Missunited,he wore a panama hat with a twist that day. With Rebel Fitz he is well able to train.
Your post reminds me of another great character, the late Oliver O'Brady and on Cheltenham week the memory of the scenes when Baron de Feypo was only 2nd was something else,a welcome change from quite often the silver spoon brigade and imo certainly not worse off for it.
Report pablo gonzales March 6, 2015 9:11 PM GMT
the comparison with Oliver OBrady is an apt one ....some good memories there that proves the point well
Report gatt March 6, 2015 10:11 PM GMT
Some great comments about two great characters.....two shrewd men as well.....not like the suited bankers and politicans that are robbing everyone
