Au contraire Sparrow, the exact opposite in fact. Maybe my writing style just isn't to everyone's taste.

whole heartedly agree jonny they should not only pick up litter ! they should be forced to clean and tidy wealthy peoples gardens as well, layabouts should also be forced to valet and wash the higher classes cars and other modes of transport ,mowing lawns and trimming tree branches etc would give them valuable exercise and get them in the right frame of mind for more demanding tasks that the more well of and superior classes can find for them !these tasks will benefit both classes ,the underclasses can rest assured that they are performing a valuable and effective service and it will also save the upper classes cash which be better spent on lifes essentials ! Bollinger is at a very reasonable price nowadays under £300 a cas

I in no way support UKIP but I think there is a strong argument for some sort of work to be done for the long term unemployed.
It would call it "Community Development", it would just be 4 hours per day (5 days) a week and would involve, clearing up community areas, tidy elderly peoples gardens and properties, removing graffiti, assisting at feedbacks or charity shops, etc. It is not the work they do, it is just to get them in the mindset of getting up each day and contributing. 4 hours still gives plenty of time for job seeking and application. I really believe that if I had not worked for 6 months, I would be going crazy and would welcome the activities and camaraderie of working with others... but perhaps that is just me. |

I thought the present government said something similar when they came into power. Probably forgotten like most things Mp's say.
By:
I expect Duncan-Smith said it just before the last election to get a few votes.

Working for 6 months drove me crazy, Swardean, not unemployment.

How many Tories and secret Tories ie farage, have shares in private healthcare companies, there ruining the nhs for there own self serving interests.horrible bastards
By:
Farage is reiterating tory policies of the 1980s;in those days they had a YOPS scheme whereby the unemployed youth carried out community projects such as picking up litter and weeding the church graveyard. This sort of work benefits everyone and only God knows why it was ever disbanded. I'm looking forward to Farage's next announcement which i expect will bring back the 'short sharp shock' treatment for young criminals.Clearly Ukip and Scottish Nationalists will be the biggest minority parties at Westminster next May which i expect will end up with a tory/Ukip coalition.

There are thousands of long term dole merchants who have no intention to even look for a job,let alone start one. Unless there is a confirmed medical condition as to why they can't work, their benefits should be removed, after being given 3 months notice that it would be happening

By:
posy,
Do you know what the latest odds are for the general election ? |
By:
Tory / UKIP coalition? pmsl, that is one of the least likely post election outcomes
By:
yes...what's your point ?
By:
the point is that UKIP won't have anywhere near enough seats to be able to form a coalition with anyone, that's why the Con-UKIP coalition you predict is 17 to lay
By:
Are there prices available for the various coalition options ?, I believe Labour are odds on for an outright victory.
By:
no, NO overall majority is odds on
By:
15 to lay...con/lib dem is 17.You may be right about number of ukip seats but i'm not so certain; expect them to do better than predicted.
By:
well I expect them to do much worse than expected
By:
Yes judorick,
Labour majority 11/4 Conservative majority 4/1 Labour / Lib Dem coalition - 4/1 Conservative Lib Dem coalition - 4/1 |
By:
Agree, the work shy i.e.6 months and no job should do community work for their free money from the Govt unless they have a medical exemption
By:
Maybe after picking the litter up the long term unemployed should be made to march through the streets so people can jeer and throw things at them.
I'm sure johnny can lobby his MP friend to get the ball rolling. |
By:
Unless something drastic happens over the next six months there are 3 options, forget liberals they are fecked.
This leaves labour/snp wont happen because wee sturgeon will be demanding another referendum. Labour/ukip highly unlikely. tory/ukip most plausible and most likely |

Maybe some of the fascist morons on here should spend 4 hours a day picking up litter themselves which would leave less time for them to post such reactionary nonsense on this forum? Just a thought...
By:
There have always been people in society who don't want to work and as long as they are not living in luxury I have no problem with them receiving basic benefits to get by leaving more jobs for people who wish to work.
By:
I don't know why they don't offer more pressing encouragement to find work. 6 months free dole money, so they can have a nice easy time watching Jezza on the box and hanging out with mates on street corners... happy times, then after the 6 months is up they will get an arbitrary free 25 lashes in the stocks by a worker picked at random through a national lottery type draw. Then they would be allowed another 3 months of free money and once again at deadline day they would be entitled to 50 free lashes. I would have no objections what so ever, some may even enjoy the free perks.

Just a thought... # So the people of this Country that pick up litter for a full time job are overworked.. The likes of you that describe people that want the unemployed to work are facist morons.. The worst thing that ever happened in this country was the Social Media.. I would limit access to it to those that were in work and paid the necessary NI.. Block the morons that come out with sh ite.... |
