A man from near Ely is to stand trial accused of multiple frauds involving Newmarket horses, Spurs Football Club and building suppliers.
Andrew Chatters, 38, of Main Street, Witchford, appeared at Cambridge Crown Court charged with 16 fraud offences and one theft between October 2011 and September 2013.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges and has been remanded on bail until his trial next April.
Chatters is accused of four offences of fraud of Tattersalls Ltd by falsely representing he was an authorised signatory on the transaction account AJ Dog Food Ltd and entitled to purchase horses at £3,528, £9,762, £6,300 and £1,050.
He is further charged with making a false representation to Horse Requisites Newmarket Ltd and opening a trading account in the name AJ Renewals, using a forged signature to make a gain of £2,839.21, and a similar allegation relating to being an authorised signatory on an account for AJ Racing Ltd in the same sum.
Chatters is also accused of making a false representation to equestrian and pet supplier Alan's Ark by using a credit card belonging to another to pay for £971.60 worth of goods and services, and to using a fraudulent credit card to pay a £865 Cadogen Hotel bill.
It is said that at the beginning of March 2013 he fraudulently used a credit card to pay £7,720 for a Tottenham Hotspur FC executive box.
The defendant is also alleged to have stolen a Kubota truck excavator worth £27,000 belonging to Newmarket Plant Hire Ltd and fraudulently opened a trading account with that firm in the name of Glen Eagle Racing valued at £13,400.
In addition, Chatters allegedly forged a trading application with Jewsons Ltd for credit for Glen Eagle Racing in the sum of £5,000 and made a further gain from Jewsons of £5,276 for Glen Eagle Racing.
Chatters is also charged with presenting Jewsons with an AJ Racing Ltd cheque to obtain further credit and fraudulently opening a trading account in the name of Glen Eagle Racing at Travis Perkins in the sum of £10,176.73.
The last two offences relate to making a false representation to V12 Finance by forging the signature of Jodie Davis Chatters with intent to make a finance agreement worth £375.99 and to make a false representation to Russell King to sub-rent a Mercedes van without the authority of its owner, Global Self Drive.
