strikes me if you want to deliberately lose a race, dont try and hide behind horses and pretend to try to get out and risk being found out - simply go hell for leather knowing the horse will have nothing left in the final 2 furlongs, then you can be seen to be trying as hard as you like but horse cannot win - mission accomplished ....
