A ludicrous decision to call a false start in the first place, there would be at least 60 or 70 a week based on that, nothing wrong with a horse getting a fast start. Doubt he will but the starter should be punished for that.

The starters wired up M8............someone instructed him

What do other countries use ?
I seem to recall that Santa Anita (for one in the US) have some sort of siren they can use in such cases. Tend to agree though - it's such a rare occurrence, installing systems at every racecourse here seems a bit like overkill. |

According to the Racing Post only Hanagan admitted seeing the flag. Did the others have their eyes shut?
So effectively they had the option of blaming a couple of faceless bods or giving the likes of Moore, Hanagan and Doyle a ten-day ban that would see them missing the St Leger meeting and other big races. Decision bottled as per usual. It seems the jockeys cannot be blamed for anything these days. |

If Hanagan had pulled up (at any point before the winning post I believe) he'd have got the w/o and the pot - he's therefore clearly a bit dim (or a v poor jock if he can't pull up in half a mile!).

* and the stewards would really have had a decision to make (if any jock had pulled up!).

Why not pay the prize money for the race, surely Epsom is not strapped for the cash and it hurts no one. I can understand the betting side because of winners and losers (bets) being voided but the horses, trainers, jockeys and stable staff have all done their job for nowt.

I doubt I would pay the jockeys for that(perhaps the prize money should come out of their pockets)

they should cover all of the transport and costs for every runner (they being the bha)

George Baker also (deliberately) missing the point in today's Post. If he wants compensation he should asking Ryan Moore and co.
This isn't about whether it was correct false start or not. That is not for the jockeys to decide. For whatever reason the jockeys did not follow the rules. Why bother with rules at all if they are just going to be ignored? |

There was no whistle differentdrum and the flag man moved to the side before waving. That was enough to create doubt.
