cheats do prosper after all

|
By:
i'm all for innocent till proved guilty but if found guilty the punishment has to be life, its harsh but jockeys know the score, though with second chances being given out they might think the risks are worth talking now

The problem is if he is allowed to ride practically anywhere else there may be little legal justification for stopping him riding here.

Paul Bittar's going away present for us all.
Charming.... |

Perhaps Fergal will be the new Charlie Smirke and ride this year's Leger winner.
There again.....perhaps not. |

Unbelievable. Another nail in the coffin for racing.

do you think he will land the double and get back with emma

|

of course, the timing of the racing posts PR tripe is sheer coincidence
Mill1ngton should hang his head in shame |

One suspects the RP had the info even before onlooker.

I wouldn't mind this so much, if others who have committed similar offences were also prevented from riding in the UK for a full decade. As a punter, I don't want to see the little cheat back in the game but at least he has served a proper win. Some are welcomed back within a year or so

If racing wasn't corrupt enough.

"proper ban" not "win", ffs.

Lets hope no trainer employs him. One of the cheats will I suppose.

Plenty of those around Clacton.

There is not a fully fledged Jockey riding who has not "stopped" horses at their Trainer's instructions.

doubt they have delibrately stopped one......wouldnt be worth it
|
|
By:
not that i would say that about a irish jockey we all know and love
|
|
By:
Every jockey has been asked to give a horse a 'quiet' ride, so they have all stopped them. They would'nt get many rides if they refused.

"..... harsh but jockeys know the score, though with second chances being given out they might think the risks are worth talking now"
totally agree, not interested in sob stories or how sorry they are, he knew the score and still took the risk. It is only right that cheats are dealt with severely. Hope he has learnt his lesson, he has paid a price, and now this is subject to on-going review for an initial one year period. But understandably lot of people don't like seeing cheats back in the game. |

So that's the confirmation of what we all knew that RP front page was about earlier in the week - a public relations exercise ahead of this announcement.
|
|
By:
forget the trainers what owner in his right mind would put him up ,besides a bent one obviously, but his every ride will be under the microscope not worth the hassel for genuine owners

Do you know what, I will be amazed if there is anyone left watching racing in 20 years time. Does any other sport treat its audience base with quite such contempt as horse racing. You have to be ever craftier to get a bet on with any bookie, get restricted for your trouble or offered lousy odds before you even get to the race, where you could be shafted by a dodgy jockey, trainer, or both
![]() The younger generation of gamblers are not so loyal to horse racing as us older ones, and have grown up in an environment where betting on other sports is far more accessible than ever. Racing seems to have a death wish. |

Mothercare Vouchers just taken rise in stock

Dead right Quvega. Dont see many young people backing horses in the shops. They bet on football mostly. Us older ones know what goes on but we just put up with it.If any government put a block on the machines, betting shops will not survive.

it should be interesting to see which trainers actually employ him

disgusting decision - should be ashamed of themselves...... but the toffs won't have any idea what they've done.

by which trainers do you mean the layers or the backers,

Its a real shame. In other sports you see jail time even for spot fixing. Punters always treated last in racing.

By:
Blue Fragrance will be his first ride back

i also agree quvega , but the main problem racing has it that nearly every single section of racing is run by someone or some company purely to make money for themselves or shareholders , and not the benefit of the sport . that will be racing demise .
The reason the French can increase funds is due to the statutory link between betting and funding, underwritten in law. In 2009 the Paris Mutuel, French racing’s betting market, reported income of €9.3 Billion of which €731 Million was returned to racing. 2010 is reported a higher still. Back in the UK, the Betting Levy Board put just £62.5 Million into the sport in 2009! Admittedly there are differences in the two betting markets, but what France has is a system which covers the earnings of ALL betting on French racing, whether wagered on the Paris Mutuel or on exchanges or the internet. |
