I placed a yankee on Naas races on Monday on the Betfair Sportsbook and beside each horse's price on my bet slip was 'BOG' indicating best odds guaranteed.
Fortunately all 4 horses won, but the last one Table Rock was 9/2 at the time of my bet. He returned an SP of 6/1.
I presumed my bet would be settled with Table Rock at 6/1 but it wasn't. The difference in the amount paid and the amount I would have got had I been credited with 6/1 is €160.
When I asked Betfair about this they told me that 'BOG' doesn't apply to bets on Irish racing. Yet, up to and including Monday all Irish prices in the betting slip were accompanied by the 'BOG' symbol.
Today is the first Irish meeting since Monday and if you place a sportsbook bet on Punchestown today the 'BOG' no longer appears. Obviously they have changed their system between Monday and now.
Unfortunately, It does say on their riles, on the attached link, that BOG only applies to UK racing. Interestingly, BOG applies to IRISH greyhound racing, just not horse racing.
This is a very backward step for Betfair, and I, for one, will be very wary using their sportsbook again.
