GEORGE B works for the BHA imo.
He is sticking up for their crass handling of this and is always wanting people to pick outsiders in the comps. And we know the BHA are hand in glove with the bookies. Come on GEORGE do the decent thing and declare your interest. |

He is sticking up for their crass handling of this I suggest you read the through again, I'm trying to establish what happened and see the incident for myself. No matter what happened today, whether or not YOU, me, or the jocks like it, when those who have the authority order you to do something, you do it, that is the way of the world we live in. If they have disobeyed the starter(s), and as a result an assistant starter has been put in danger, then they have a case to answer and a ban is justified imo. If they felt an injustice was about to happen, there is an appeals process they can go through. If they still feel hard done by, they have other means they can try eg PJA or withdrawing their labour on a certain day. The stewards ordered at least one of them to be present to hear the findings of their enquiry, one of them should have gone, and then took it from there. |

The void Grand National with the two false starts was a total farce. I backed Zetas Son for serious money , and was gutted. His trainer shouted to the starter that he was going to sue him !

It's not about taking sides, or who's right or who's wrong imo, it's about jockeys thinking they are above authority and refusing to turn up to hear the findings of the stewards' enquiry.
As above, if they disagree with the decision of a stewards' panel, they do have avenues they can explore starting off with an appeal. Petulance was not the answer. |

A bit more info here, they were seemingly about to be banned for 2 days each and were unhappy that their punishment apparently had been determined prior to the inquiry reconvening. |

They're not doing it for YOU or me, and it doesn't give them the right to question the authority of the stewards on the day. |

Funnily enough in a similar stand off 250 miles South in a place called Canary Wharf 39 alleged Journalists would not leave the building after the alleged Editor was told to produce a paper for the punters and not for the sponsors... There was one alleged Tipster that left the building because he had made a profit... Police have brought in Special Investigators to find out his identity... They may have to bring in those that worked on Operation Yewtree to work out who he was.... bore off,no-one cares,zzzzzz |

Most of the jockeys will have been working since early morning. They will be tired hungry and carrying injuries. Was it nescessary to make them hang around to listen to the findings until after the 5.25 race?
Most will have travel schedules and some will be dependant on lifts. Like most of us when we finish work we are ready for home. Instead of throwing their weight about why not say that there will be an announcement at a later date when the racing calender is not busy i.e next week. The jockeys will probably be a bit more tolerant when the dust has settled. That is if the stewards feel like putting themselves out and meeting the jockeys half way. |

the stupid starter caused it all, went up on his podium and then shouted it isnt time yet, like all jockeys have a watch on their arms.

By Graham Green & Jessica Lamb 8:00PM 6 APR 2014 CHAMPION jockey Tony McCoy and Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Davy Russell on Sunday emerged as prime movers in the Grand National day revolt over a stewards' inquiry into farcical scenes at the start that could now result in 39 jockeys receiving a heavier ban than they originally faced. In a dramatic end to Saturday's action at Aintree, all but one of the big-race riders staged a mutiny by collectively refusing to leave the weighing room to hear the outcome of the inquiry. It is understood they were to receive blanket two-day bans over Easter bank holiday weekend, which features the Grade 1 Powers Gold Cup at Fairyhouse. Their actions sparked a referral to the BHA - most likely to take place on Thursday week - where, with the exception of Brendan Powell whose mount Battle Group planted himself at the start, it is understood all riders could face additional punishment for their act of rebellion. "Tony McCoy and Davy Russell were our main spokespeople and we decided with them that we wouldn't go back into the inquiry," said Davy Condon, rider of eighth-placed Raz De Maree. "We all tried our best and we said that in the inquiry, but they said we were all going to get two days and we felt hard done by." Barry Geraghty, top rider at this year's National meeting, summed up the mood, saying: "We felt very aggrieved with the way the inquiry was dealt with. It's gone on to the BHA and it's better if no more is said on the matter for now." |
