He was indeed eacingstar, a proper gent. I used to bet with Stephen Little and just make my own prices up, he invariably said ok, you're on son.

Comeon Racingstar
Tell us some stories about Dodger?

Wink
Report The Pinhooker March 12, 2014 9:33 PM GMT
John Pegley was just about the shrewdest knockout man in the ring.
Report racingstar March 12, 2014 9:33 PM GMT
Pegley is standing at Chepstow many years ago and a horse called Polish is scooting clear with two to jump.
Dodger having backed the said creature shouts,"I will Lay a £500 to £100 Polish".
Pegley thinking it is "finding it on the floor" immediately accepts the bet.
The horse comes down and does his money,LuckyHappy

I went to The Millenium Cup coursing final in Swaffham. Stephen Little was there standing wearing that rabbit coat. He went 4/7 and evens. I said I'll have evens the jolly, he said OK, you are on. Sir Mark Prescott's dog Daylami won that year. Not sure what year that was.
Report SlippyBlue March 12, 2014 9:47 PM GMT
Maybe 1995 but not sure about that.
Report onlooker March 12, 2014 10:48 PM GMT

Little has always been a serious cyclist. He claims to have attended every UK racecourse on a bicycle.

I know someone who told me he once got stung betting Little that he wouldn't be able to make it to the station after the last on his bike in time for the train home. He was unaware that Little had previously tipped the guard to hold the train for him.

He used to shuffle in front of the rail at Bath, intent on his mobile, looking for an arb (Ladbrokes took pity and offered him FP on his bets, which gave him a good chance).

When I say"used", I mean up to the last meeting.
Report unitedbiscuits April 11, 2020 5:51 PM BST
You were an arber, as I remember, regvarney.

I expect the pair of would have crawled over broken glass for a price from the night before.

Fred were the last to go.

How are you guys going to get by? Can you apply for arber-furlough?
