John Pegley, there has been many a fred about him on here. I just remember him as the tic tac to the ring, I never had a bet with him to be honest with you.

John Pegley was just about the shrewdest knockout man in the ring.

Pegley is standing at Chepstow many years ago and a horse called Polish is scooting clear with two to jump.
Dodger having backed the said creature shouts,"I will Lay a £500 to £100 Polish".
Pegley thinking it is "finding it on the floor" immediately accepts the bet.

I went to The Millenium Cup coursing final in Swaffham. Stephen Little was there standing wearing that rabbit coat. He went 4/7 and evens. I said I'll have evens the jolly, he said OK, you are on. Sir Mark Prescott's dog Daylami won that year. Not sure what year that was.

Maybe 1995 but not sure about that.

Little has always been a serious cyclist. He claims to have attended every UK racecourse on a bicycle.

I know someone who told me he once got stung betting Little that he wouldn't be able to make it to the station after the last on his bike in time for the train home. He was unaware that Little had previously tipped the guard to hold the train for him.

i remember reading the Patrick veitch book first race at bath took him 15k packed up got straight back in the Bentley and went home must of been a long drive
