"A race with a fine track record of producing future stars, and it´s highly likely it did so again, as the well-supported FAUGHEEN won in seriously impressive style, despite several sloppy jumps. The pace was good, which suited him, being a 3m winner already, and having tanked through the race he powered up the hill to win easily. He must have some engine, as his mistakes made no difference whatsoever. He´d won his three previous starts over hurdles easily, but in hindsight his true ability was probably better reflected by his 22l thrashing of Josses Hill (runner-up to Vautour in the Supreme) in a Punchestown bumper last spring. Given his lack of respect for hurdles it´s no surprise his trainer indicated he would go chasing next season, when he should make up into a leading RSA candidate. Interestingly, and a touch surprisingly, when asked to compare Faugheen with the Supreme winner Vautour, Mullins said the latter was "on a different level".

Jaysus thats some call by Willie - after watching Vatour win it was hard to imagine anything on another level to him!
other way round culdesac! I am not at all surprised he has Vautour ahead, but "on a different level". As you say "jaysus"!

apparently he told Ruby that its horses like Faugheen that makes get up every morning :o
A general rule that will stand you in good stead is,believe what you see over what you hear.
Vautour 2 1/2 seconds faster than Faughheen. At least a cricket pitch I`d say.
At two miles Vautour , at two and and plus Faugheen.

He's referring to Vautour being on a different level.

Vautour is the 'latter' horse in that sentence.

Fair enough. I just presumed he meant Faugheen. "A different level" does surprise me.
Let's put it another way, he thinks vautour is better, I agree with him, we see how really good chasers make ground at the fences, a Flemenstar in his pomp or LI in the irish hennessy were good examples, but it's rare to see visually be taken aback by a hurdlers leaps, vautour's hurdling was the best I've seen for a very long time, putting distance between himself and the rest at most obstacles, over 2 miles faugheen would be in a mess trying to hurdle with him, and the engine can only get you out of so much...not against the quality of vautour it wouldn't though, and vautours engine looked every bit as good as faugheens to me in any any case.

When you hear the work ride says Faugheen is the reason he gets up if a morning, and then wins like that, to be told another horse is on a different level is quite frightening.
That's why I love the novice hurdles. Seeing future champions Nd what they "could" be is what keeps the heart in the game v

and judging by the bumper today next years stars are also coming from our side of the pond.

That bumper winner on Sunday for Gigginstown and Mullins looks a machine too. Could be better than the ones running today.

Gosh, thought this might just be a simple thought-provoking post that would provoke some debate, with Mullins saying that Vautour was "on a different level" to Faugheen.
I had assumed that all would obviously assume that Mullins' "different level" would be understood to mean that he rated Vautour ahead of Faugheen.
