Missed the start Biscar. What happened?
Report Send.in.the.clowns February 3, 2014 12:49 PM GMT
avb a loser :(

Thornton took the horse away from the first start and the starter let them go and called them back after seeing Thornton going the wrong way.
On the second start Thornton seemed to be messing about and then when they went he was gesticulating to the starter.
Only possible excuse is that he thought the horse was kicked and wanted it checked.
Report biccieannacuppatea February 3, 2014 12:51 PM GMT
I'd have to see a replay of that--it didn't look like Dermatologiste was straightened out when he let them go at first glance, and Thorton was gesticulating as if he was thoroughly unimpressed.
Report biccieannacuppatea February 3, 2014 12:52 PM GMT
*wasn't. Only tuned in after the false start though, so I don't know what happened before that. Apparently a fair amount.
Report bacardi February 3, 2014 12:53 PM GMT
is it a runner or n/r ?
Report EVILROYSLADE February 3, 2014 12:54 PM GMT
Thanks for that Biscar. I am dying to see the recording now!

that will get under a few peoples skin
Report Poppydog. February 3, 2014 12:56 PM GMT
I'm pretty sure Thornton was waiting for the whip-man, who was very slow.

Watch when ATR review it, in a minute
Report Poppydog. February 3, 2014 12:58 PM GMT
In fact, I think Thornton gesticulates to the guy with the whip,
who's ambling into picture a bit late

Report Biscar Two from a mile back February 3, 2014 1:04 PM GMT
After the replay I'm none the wiser as to what he was up to
Report the dealer February 3, 2014 1:04 PM GMT
i think he wanted the assistant to be close up and cracking the whip
Report book February 3, 2014 1:05 PM GMT
no one to blame but the jockey
Report rcing February 3, 2014 1:05 PM GMT
looked like he tried to start , and when he wasn't in the lead or a good position , he pulled it hoping for another non starter
Report matt hughes February 3, 2014 1:06 PM GMT
thornton just pulled it up, didn't get the start he wanted, should be banned the lanky ****
Report Poppydog. February 3, 2014 1:06 PM GMT
My interpretation is Thornton went over to the whip-assistant after the first false start
and said give him a crack from behind.

On the second false start, Thornton didn't get it going and looked round, seeing the whip-assistant
hadn't bothered, decided to blame him.

However, think Thornton is being a bit petty as he tried to get the horse going.... and failed
Report Daz7 February 3, 2014 1:07 PM GMT
why doesn`t cooper get hold of the starter for an interview - who wants to hear about stan james`s prices?
Report rcing February 3, 2014 1:07 PM GMT
you could be right there poppydog
Report biccieannacuppatea February 3, 2014 1:09 PM GMT
Regardless of whether it was Thornton's fault or not, I feel sorry for punters who had put money down. To have that go down as an RR is an insult.
Report Rollo Tomasi February 3, 2014 1:09 PM GMT
That start just sums up how this place has changed. A few years ago that horse would have been 1000 immediately. Now it's like the layers have seen it all before and the doubt sets in, so there is longer wait before they jump in. People just want money for nothing now.
Report elise February 3, 2014 1:09 PM GMT
tis indeed a daft rule
Report katverrat February 3, 2014 1:15 PM GMT
poppydog

To me, he didnt even try to get it going

OK he lost 5-10 lengths, with a bit of an awkward start but did not 'kick' or even try to get the horse moving after that.

We're talking a 3mile race in soft here - unbelievable!
