Another one-meeting day, another piece of analysis. Today's race is a 7 furlong, Class 7 handicap at Kempton Park (AW).
The first thing that's caught my eye is the number of potential front-runners. Six Silver Lane, Mucky Molly, Starbotton, Strategic Action, Rydale Lass all like to lead, and I would expect a furious pace, which will suit the hold-up horses in the race.
It is therefore no surprise to see Fleetwoodsands as the 6/1 favourite. Fleetwoodsands tends to be dropped out early, and always does his best work at the finish. He was well-backed into 4/1 favouritism after a 9 month break LTO, which suggests he's shown plenty at home. That trip was inadequate, and he probably needed the run too. He'll improve for that, today's C+D will suit much better and the likely strong pace will fall right into his hands. Add to that the 3 pound drop in the weights, the drop in class, the new headgear and he looks a corker of a bet @ 6/1.
