far too many people talking through their pocket here , the only time this horse was beaten over a trip apart from when he unseated , was when he was held up , fantastic ride , if he had finished with a flourish , the very same empty pocket knockers wd be screaming why did he give it so much to do , the facts are their in black and white , the horse has had an injury ffs its been off for over 400 days , some off the track yest was desperate , too be beaten les than a length was a fantastic training feat ! easy too way blame when you lost money , i thought the horse was dif gravey but i always check the betting , and when they stated offering 6/4 early price and offering 3/1 if it won by 5 lengths i thought mm, just watch race , as a nuetral , saying if superman had been on he wd have won lol forgette these aint machines as someone who works at an equine centre how hard it is too get a horse back after a tendon injury , the comments on here are laughable , someone even said cant rem him been ridden so prominently ? what planet is he from stay off that d-ope ! another fact is the stables runners have not been finishing their races , eh noone noticed they have went off the boil da ! too many pocket talking posters

Big Bucks WILL hose up in World Hurdle imo. Personally thought it was good(not great) comeback run and STD just got there too soon(hindsight is a wonderful thing). Apart from AP nothing will get near him. 6/4 was a gift and laying at 1/2 was also obvious thing to do (sorry about the aftertiming
). 3/1 after the race for WH thanks very much Hopefully AP goes for CH or if Mrs Ricci gets her way The Mares race . GL ALL |

Nicholls horses usually go quiet before Festival, so wouldn't worry too much but the sooner he gets STD or imo Townend as stable jockey the better. Lac Fontana fairly finished yesterday the fekker i backed the 2nd

By:
Big Bucks lost the race the way it was ridden no question about it...most people know that's not the way to ride the horse.

Actually think STD got it right. BB is not a speed horse...always finds a terrific amount off the bridle. Just look at his last world hurdle win when he took up very early and broke the speed horses and non stayers on the turn back for home.
Yesterday's race was falling apart quickly...made sense to go for it so far out and give the horse what he what he really needed - a solid pre Cheltenham workout. Nicholls even admitted b4 the race that if he had done things differently he would've gotten 1 more racecourse gallop into BB before yesterday....I suspect he thought the horse's sheer class would've pulled him through....he eluded to this on the morning line when Tom was making his case for Boston Bob and he said something like - yeah but he beat 130, 140 horses last time....that's not up there with what BB's is capable off ie 170+ performances. Pretty similar situation to Silvinaco imo....said pre haydock the horse was bang on but then after the king George win said - I just knew if I had him spot on at Haydock he wouldn't have won today....bit of kick in the arse for punters but I'm guessing its the same with Big Bucks. The whole team would be disappointed it....who wouldn't be? he won a zillion races over hurdles and finally lost his unbeaten tag yesterday....got to be a little shock to system....but they got what they wanted - a solid work out and its now all roads back to the Festival. The more worrying thing about yesterdays race for me was the fact AT FISHERS CROSS couldn't even beat Knockbara Beau.....Big Bucks has excuses with his fitness but what the hell is AFC's excuse? That's even more desperate for me. |
By:
Ruby knew when to get out. That was a clue in itself.
By:
Fishers cross has been under a cloud for months and that has been well documented.
By:
Is Reynard being serious here.
most people know that's not the way to ride the horse. It`s a bit late now Reynard, but Big Bucks has done rather well being ridden in a similar way. ? ![]() |
By:
I said on the "back or lay" post that it would run to 160...............I also said that K Beau would keep on as the others folded...

I've just cottoned on to the thread title. I remember a race many moons ago from Hong Kong I think it was. The horse was most definitely not supposed to be trying but nobody told the horse. The poor jockey spent the whole race trying to do his best Boston Strangler impression all to no avail. All the way up the straight he was casting increasingly anxious glances back towards the field which receded further and further into the distance. All seemed lost as they entered the final furlong with the jockey now needing binoculars to see his toiling rivals and then he jumped off the horse.

I do not think his defeat was the jockeys fault...and he was trying
I suspect both BB and AFC will come on for the festival but looking at the winner the form of the race did not inspire much confidence |
By:
Angel..ok put it this way... RUBY would have won the race
By:
calm down bigmart ye mug......plot and lost springs to mind... he gave it a shocker of aride.....end of!
By:
If Sam had waited and then Big Bucks hit his flat spot between the last and 2nd last and got beat 3/4L the moaners would be up in arms about him not kicking on.
Reynard, yes Ruby would just have squeezed Big Bucks along and gone to the front between the 3rd last and 2nd last and won 1/2L all out, but Ruby knows the horse and is a better jockey than Sam. This is why BB was 6/5 and not 5/6, punters need to assess before they pile in. |
By:
No idea if it would have won but I have never seen it ridden that way before, usually held up until the last hurdle. So unless he was told to do it has to go down as a ill judged ride. IMHO.
