No one needs to tip them. There are a million and one ricks on the overnight prices put up by the bookies and a half decent punter will spot them and all pros will spot them. Most pros will leave them alone but the decent amateur punter will wade in marking the bookies card as that's what the overnight prices are for. On occasion it will be pricewise but no tipping line gives out info the night before that I know of - it wouldn't serve any of their members to do so.

I reckon if I could bet overnight prices to win 5K a bet I would win a million every year.

racingguru...how many bets per day wud you want to place? What do you think your win ratio wud be?
Report racingguru January 3, 2014 9:49 PM GMT
typically 2 a day, 4 - 6 on saturdays.

Racing - can you 99% certain , spot horse that will shorten ?
Report racingguru January 3, 2014 10:00 PM GMT
For some horses 100%, some between 90-100%. Others you get further clues in the morning but before you go there no liquidity on here to make any money doing it. I'm not in any way unique in being able to do this, tons of people on here are able to do it and a lot of them are trying their best to keep the market on here false between 8am and 10am so they can get their bets on at the bookies.

I think the vast majority of successful punters (apart from those staking small enough to be accomodated her early) would be delighted if Betfair scrapped the overnight markets.
Report racingguru January 3, 2014 10:06 PM GMT
Agreed - would be delighted if BF opened markets at 11am.

I had a little go a couple of years back looking for steamers 10 ins before the off .

my criteria consisted of jockey/trainer at the track , ground ,  track , grade of race and a few others .

is it on the right lines or is it a bit deeper ?

cheers ./

Whatever Price/Wise picks, the price goes just after 8pm the night before (because R Post subscribers get their copy on the ipad at 8pm).

every man/woman ( zodiac ) for himself , if a horse is 20/1 but you think it should be 10/1 , why wait .
Report bagga0 January 3, 2014 10:10 PM GMT
Ladbrokes and betfred let you bet the night before on all the races they price up and I have just found out there are two very good tipsters who tip the night before and they gamble on them . great what you can find on the internet. they two tipped that big gamble vardas supreme also 1.30 win mister snowball
also wincanton 2.40 jumps road 6/1
Report racingguru January 3, 2014 10:11 PM GMT
because if you bet it overnight at 20/1 for pennies and it opens up at 10/1 the following morning that all you have pennies. If you show some restraint and let it open 16/1 in the morning you can fill yer boots.
Report racingguru January 3, 2014 10:13 PM GMT
Vardas is just going back to an old old rating - GL if you follow that in.

sorry racinguru - my question was for you . thanks
Report rcing January 3, 2014 10:17 PM GMT
if you bet in pennies it doesn't matter RG .

if you are a big punter whose bets can move markets , you should have found ways to manipulate the prices on here to your advantage the night before imo
Report tambhoy5 January 3, 2014 10:19 PM GMT

Report Leo Bovary January 3, 2014 10:21 PM GMT
racinguru is spot on.

There are loads of overnight prices that just look plain wrong and so may not actually be 'gambles'. It is easy to 'aftertime' these things, but take the 5:30 at Wolves as an example. Bet £3.65 had Jay Bee Blue as their original 4/1 favourite, it went off 12's. In my opinion 4/1 always looked wrong (I didn't lay it, though).
In tomorrow's 1:35 Lingfield, Lucky Di has been well supported the last twice and Lisahane Bog was well supported from the Peter Hedger yard last Monday (Peter Hedger trains Lucky Di). IMO it isn't a surprise to see that the early 12/1 has gone and the hoss is into 8/1 in places. The yard or someone connected with it appears to have plenty of money to back representatives from this yard at the moment.

In the same race Shaolin is a hoss that I remember being backed from 5's early/overnight into 13/8 on its penultimate start at Leicester last September. I would hazard a guess that connections think their hoss is ahead of the handicapper, couple that with the fact the Racing Post have tipped it and again I don't think it is a surprise to see the early 8/1 has gone.
Report racingguru January 3, 2014 10:24 PM GMT
Glasgow Brian - People with good ratings move the markets. Obviously the factors you mention are important in determining whether the conditions are right for the horse with that rating that they consider to have a better chance than the odds presented overnight.
Report Glasgow Brian January 3, 2014 10:32 PM GMT
cheers guru - seemed to work better with class 3 handicaps or better
Report racingguru January 3, 2014 10:33 PM GMT
rcing -some bookies are easier than others to manipulate. Unfortunately those type don't tend to offer prices overnight and even if they do how long is it gonna take before you get your account restricted to pennies? Overnight limits are tiny for starters so whats the point of getting the ball rolling for the market to move? I'm not the only one looking to get on horse X and waiting. If I bet overnight (and I have accs to do so but don't) and Bookie A cuts price, then the next punter waiting goes in and so and so forth. It doesn't serve me or anyone looking to get a lump on.

Value horse tips cause a major wave in overnight market.pain in the arse of a firm when you fancy one of theirs
Report racingguru January 3, 2014 10:55 PM GMT
IMO any tipster firm that tips overnight isn't worth 2 bob. What can you get on?? Fiction prices they are tipping and fiction results they are showing.
Report siralex January 3, 2014 11:08 PM GMT
Ballydoyle And racing guru are spot on. Value horse tips causes quite a movement at 5.30 when he puts his 3 or 4 up each evening.
Pricewise does the same but there are also loads of other tipsters out there and it only takes a tenner for bet3.65 and paddies to slash their prices.
Anyone taking these prices will get their account shut quick smart. I lost no-end of mine even if they were losing accounts purely by backing overnight prices.
As has been said although these tipsters know which horses are ricks their results are partly false because u can't get on at the prices advertised. Even worse than pricewise. At least u can get £25 on his in the morning.
That's why these tipsters charge. They can't make a living from the bets so they make it from followers.

No Ladbrokes Odds Compiler is poor that`s all....... and Lucky Di c/d form gives her a decent chance 13/2, 6/1 shot, needs the gaps to come though
Report racingguru January 3, 2014 11:16 PM GMT
No Ladbrokes odds compiler is poor???? My mate used to be the risk director there and used to tell me how f'ing useless they all were. Anyway he changed things up a bit and they have improved but not hard when you bet to the ridiculous overrounds they do.

Seen an increase over the past few months of horses, in Handicaps, that have drifted markedly from opening, layed to lose £Hundreds.
Once the false price is created, backed considerably to win £Thousands.

e.g. Open around 12s, out to 20s to 30s, going off around 5s and scooting in.

Trying to keep an ongoing list of connections of this strategy, over the years, but it's too tricky for me.
Report thegiggilo January 4, 2014 1:34 AM GMT
I can think of two examples of the above within a couple of weeks danderell opened 6/1 drifted to 14s in morning won at sp of 5/2 and two no bids opened 6/1 with books drifted to 20+ on betfair won sp 8/1.These were standouts though, how often that happens I would think is pretty rare..

racingguru speaks a lot of sense .

my two tipsters I was told were value horse tips and overpriced,
value put up there selections about 5.30and overpriced about 7.30.

looking at there websites and seeing there results I would say 90% of them all shorten in the betting at least 2 to 3 points some a lot more.
I know from betting on here for many years. who you ask for a price the night before a point less than its a bookie is asking you will get it matched nearly everytime.

I do bet on value the night before at the shops with Ladbrokes and betfred they will never ban you cos my pal who works at Ladbrokes there says they will allow a certain amount on each horse to be placed across the country when that is matchedthen it gets shorten. so if im not putting that money on that horse someone else is.

I get away with £100 on most mybets.
