well , he hasn't been to any off meeting for at least 5 years , so won't realize how dire they all are.
actually, if I was asked to value it I would say 1000 top is about fair. interesting to see what fool falls for it ,the danger is if a good number are sold the new owners will turn up to bet in large numbers
Report adge November 7, 2013 12:24 PM GMT
the reserve for lot 3962 has got it's value about right though
Report Davy Jones November 7, 2013 12:30 PM GMT
Adge - if I buy pick 3962 for £10 then how much will it cost me to bet at the Beecher saturday in terms of badge and marketing fee.
Report adge November 7, 2013 12:38 PM GMT
I don't have a pitch at Aintree but would guess 152 plus 110 plus admission
Report 545APG November 7, 2013 12:45 PM GMT
Adge Leo was there last Saturday - he had a hedge with me

The badge was £120 and the marketing fee was £100 (rip off)
Report 545APG November 7, 2013 12:45 PM GMT
+ £20 entry
Report B1GTONY76 November 7, 2013 12:47 PM GMT
cost me £260 on the saturday (120badge, 40 entry, 100 m.fee)
saturday just workable, sunday awful
Report ribero1 November 7, 2013 12:50 PM GMT
You obviously got out at the right time adge.
Report 545APG November 7, 2013 12:50 PM GMT
^what did you expect on the Sunday?
Report the artful dodger November 7, 2013 12:56 PM GMT
Smacks of greed by both the racecourse and the bookies.Sad
Report adge November 7, 2013 12:58 PM GMT
much cheaper than I thought so must be a bargain.
surprised that your firm were there APG
Report B1GTONY76 November 7, 2013 12:59 PM GMT
bad forecast sunday but never rained all day, think only around 16 books in tatts/14 rails on sunday and still unworkable
Report ribero1 November 7, 2013 1:06 PM GMT
That sunday has always been useless, the other sunday used to be ok but obviously they have scrapped it for a Saturday.
Report Davy Jones November 7, 2013 1:19 PM GMT
Wont the marketing fee be split i there are now 2 lists
Report 545APG November 7, 2013 1:27 PM GMT
Adge I only went so I could win what the firm would lose at Doncaster
Report 545APG November 7, 2013 1:29 PM GMT
My opinion which counts for nothing of course is that by selling the off part of your pitch devalues the Grand National pitch by more than what you would get for selling it
Report B1GTONY76 November 7, 2013 1:35 PM GMT
If you have a pitch on both lists you only pay one marketing fee, this was confirmed at the meeting before racing
Report gills nut November 7, 2013 1:56 PM GMT
Pick 9 now in auction, reserve more realistic.
Report adge November 7, 2013 2:26 PM GMT
surprise that number 10 is holding back
Report adge November 7, 2013 2:42 PM GMT
number 15 and number 22 also for sale too.
the snowball is gathering pace
Report democrat November 7, 2013 2:49 PM GMT
It's time for adge to buy back in !
Report sinfin November 7, 2013 4:00 PM GMT
a marketing fee will have to b paid by anyone who buys a pitch in the off at aintree so its a marketing fee for both rings but its only one fee if you already have the pitch
Report ribero1 November 7, 2013 4:19 PM GMT
despite these pitches being laughed at mainly by those who don't have one.the top ones will be well workable apart from on the dreadful sunday, the problem is though I can't see where any buyers can come from firstly the first Saturday clashes with a busy Doncaster ,the 2nd one with Wetherby and the 2 Friday nights with York.
If you were local you could probably network  2 pretty good picks for around about 10k,the county stand picks worth 15-20k imo.
Report democrat November 7, 2013 4:24 PM GMT
But if you are not local ribero ? Confused
Report ribero1 November 7, 2013 4:25 PM GMT
Exactly Democrat, thats why I said I can't see where the buyers can come from.
Report democrat November 7, 2013 4:28 PM GMT
What is the average no. of Tatts books for these meetings. The tv pictures never give the impression that there is much of a crowd.
Report ribero1 November 7, 2013 4:37 PM GMT
15-20 imo,now the new stand has been built the 7 books in the county are different class, you also get about 15 turning up on the rails.
Report adge November 7, 2013 4:57 PM GMT
the problem is , democrat , that for these meetings there is only one enclosure.
the county stand area is set on it's own , the path is straight between the stands from the parade ring to them .but the public have to bypass the row of rails books to even get to the tatts bookmakers.
Report Davy Jones November 7, 2013 5:02 PM GMT
if ribero1 is right then we should buy pick 127 for a £10, and then make the number of books attending 21. The reason that currently over 100 books dont turn up in tatts surely cant be put down to clashes...can it?
Report 545APG November 7, 2013 5:24 PM GMT
The official number for Tatts is 116 - if they all turned up on an off meeting there'd be no where to put over half of them
Report democrat November 7, 2013 5:56 PM GMT
But the Rails books' boards would be facing away from the public to whom you refer wouldn't they adge ?
Report democrat November 7, 2013 6:01 PM GMT
This thread is doing wonders for attracting bids on these Aintree Off pitches - Not !!! Perhaps the reserve prices quoted are the amounts the sellers will pay for the 'buyers' taking them off their hands !!! Laugh

Report adge November 7, 2013 6:28 PM GMT
no democrat . rails face the stand and tatts face the stand ten yards behind them but the line starting 20 yards to one side
Report democrat November 7, 2013 6:37 PM GMT
I think you are agreeing with me adge yet appearing to disagree. I think you said there is only one ring if so this is definitely to the Tatts layers detriment.
Report democrat November 7, 2013 6:41 PM GMT
Here's a brainteaser - What's the difference between Aintree pick 90 and Twitter shares ? Answer - 'Nothing - every time they go up for sale the price rockets' !!!!
Report factmachine November 7, 2013 7:17 PM GMT
DAVY,THE REASON OVER 100 BOOKS DONT TURN UP IN TATTS IS BECAUSE IT IS USELESS,DONT KNOW WHO RIBERO IS TRYING TO KIDLaugh
Report Racecourse Regular November 7, 2013 7:21 PM GMT
Weather is awful every meeting...... get a pitch in the bar or don't bother....... in fact you can have a bookies in a pub now according to UK planning law...... well with a partition.......... shouldn't give anybody any ideas hey fact ....... you know the next move....... Wink
Report ribero1 November 7, 2013 7:34 PM GMT
Adge, the rails have never really been a problem for the first bay of tatts books as if you come from the paddock you hit those first tatts books well before the rails, they areb further along, what has killed it is the new stand, you are now directed to the county from the paddock, theres bars, betting shop etc in the county,no need for anyone to go anywhere else,i would estimate those 7 books get almost half the whole business on the track.

If  at the end of the auction the selling price was £10 ( see pick 107 ) what would be the nett return to the seller after AGT had taken their cut ?
Report uwgs November 7, 2013 8:39 PM GMT
A loss of £14.96.  i.e. £10.00 sales proceeds less £24.96 costs.

(£24.00 to AGT, £0.80 to Aintree and £0.16 to the VAT man)

uwgs,
which would you say is worth the most [ the best bargain buy ]?
tatts number 9 or rails number 15
Report uwgs November 7, 2013 9:28 PM GMT
I think the key consideration is who you are betting next to. The pitches will hold about the same but the tatts pitch may bet a bit better?

For the main meeting the tatts pitch will be worth at least 50% more.
