Fine margins at this level. Nothing really 'wrong' with the line but she was certainly in front sooner than she should have been.
Backed Point of Entry so no financial interest in the ride.

So easy to ride the perfect race from the computer. You could see the horse wanted to go. Can you imagine the reaction if he had held on to her a bit longer and got beaten?

Mick possibly the worst gambler in the history of gambling in this universe!!!
Buick did nothing wrong if he held on would she have finished at the same rate as Magician was travelling, she could have been beaten further!

There was very little in the ratings between the first 2, and Magician had Ryan Moore on, that was the difference. Moore gathers better momentum on his mounts.

Backed the fugue, one jockey you dont want to see coming is ryan moore, even when your 3 lengths in front you know its gonna be close at the line because hes so good at judging the pace.

hulk, just for info, I rarely if ever shout anything at the computer and I certainly wasn´t confident even when Buick took it up in the straight. I thought he was a sitting duck for something coming from off the pace. Admittedly The Fugue was keen early and a truly run 1m4f at G1 level stretches her stamina I think but I still think if Buick could have ridden the race again he would have held her up a couple of lengths further back.
But hey ho its all about opinions isn´t it.

AOB and the **** tried to deceive the punter few weeks in racing post trophy , getting johan strauss beaten at 2/7 in egg and spoon maiden , then the horse in q . finishes 2nd in group 1 a week later backed early in week from25/1 to 8/1 and before the off their 1st sting drifts like barge {century} and tailed off , myself and silver have preached bout this scum, they are the scum of the scum

Yet again this lying out at the rear shows how stupid it is. Buick was about 9 or 10 lengths off the lead, but travelling at the same speed, he decided he needed to get closer and used up some energy doing so, if he had ridden closer to the pace, say 4/5 lengths off the lead then he would not have expended that crucial energy and left enough to sprint for home. These jockeys riding today seem to use the same stupid tactics ALL of the time, he was riding for a million pounds so why be so lackadaisical?

"There's no doubt that Lasix improves a horse's performance. One basic reason is that it reduces body weight [via fluid loss]. It also reduces pressure on the capillaries, so there's no doubt that as a drug, it helps horses to run faster.

As regards Buick and his hold up tactics, he has previous when riding THE FUGUE in last years OAKS, he had an early close up position and forfeited it within a furlong going from 5th about 4 lengths off the pace, to 9th or 10th position about 10 lengths off the pace, then he was hampered by another runner and GOSDEN complained of that horse causing his horse to lose the race and backing up Buick in Buick's report, instead of correcting his jockey about poor positioning, so the guy won't change his poor rides in the near future!!!!

Margins are sometimes very fine and had The Fogue held on to win by a rapidly diminishing nose then William Buick's ride would have been classified as perfect & it almost came off. However, the agonising final strides defeat shows (in 20 20 hind sight) that he set the filly alight two strides too soon in order to cover Mike Smith's attempted race winning move on Little Mike while rounding the penultimate turn. I'd say Buick would definitely be hanging on to her for a little bit longer if she stays in training for this race in 2014.

Get the feeling Gosden asked Buick to hold on to her for just that little bit longer, hence Buick letting his emotions show. Gosden as gracious as ever though but they expected a victory. However in hindsight they will realise a better horse beat them on the day.

I just feel Magician has more improvement in him now up in trip, there was only a 1lb between them prior to the race and in essence Magician won cosily in the end and if Moore had had him in the same position as Buick had The Fugue i would be on Magician to find more than The Fugue.
