As it happens, I actually think Ocean Storm was the best horse in the race - because we can apply Willo's theory of 'buying lengths cheaply' to what happened.
Ocean Storm put distance between himself and the opposition in the hottest part of the race, only to be nearly run down by a horse who 'bought' his ground cheaply as the leader started to pay the price for his earlier exertions. However, we can't be allowing jockeys to think they can get away with failing to keep their mounts straight in a win at any cost mentality. OS was already on its way to its left when Mulrennan decided to help it on its way by getting another smack into it. |

What happened at Goodwood was a fecking disgrace imo. Anyone who backed the Gosden horse was robbed. Buick was unable to ride the horse out for the last half-furlong.
Similar situation in the Ebor last season with Dettori doing feck all to straighten his horse up before holding on by a small margin. He got a 6 day ban but connections got to keep the 100K+ first prize ![]() |
