I still find the Commission's focus on what I could prove rather than what had been allegedly released about me shocking...

Pro FOBT's is a vast understatement , tbph..
A vigorous defense and obsession with related FOBT freds was very vivid.. I once asked him did he gamble - he said he did, so i asked him why he didn't contribute to gambling or other related freds, just FOBT ones... I still await that answer... |

I've no experience of dealing with the GC but I have had many dealings with the Heath and Safety Executive a similarly "independent" government body.
Based on that I'm not surprised Magician |

Well Well, I have had a few 'run ins' with banks over the years regarding
FOBTS and am not shedding any tears over his departure. ![]() |

And there lies the problem.
It is far from "independant" Self regulation gets right up my nose.. |
|
By:
From the GC's site.
"Our work is funded by fees, paid by the operators that we license." You expect impartiality ? They only exist as long as bookmakers co-exist. What's good for the goose.......... |
|
By:
Self regulation is an oxymoron
|
|
By:
Shocking. He once refuted that self-exclusions from shops were more often due to FOBTs than other stuff on the menu. He said there was no evidence. And self-exclusion forms that the GC view don't state why the customer is self-excluding, so the GC can pretend to be ignorant of the cause.

The long and short of it that 'anyone can go to the track to bet ir' and that my opinion on measures to level the playing field counted for fk all as I am in the vast majority that could benefit from it.
It's quite sad (and telling) that someone in his alleged position would not want to see fairer and more sustainable markets. He didn't seem to grasp that prefering long term sustainability and fairness ahead of short term greed was possible. |

I think we can conclude that BB has been well and truly outed.
Good riddance to bad rubbish |

At various industry shows I have made a point of going over to the Gambling Commission stand to ask them their position when it comes to the discrimination practiced by the bookmaking industry (you can imagine how much fun that was for them), and I've always been staggered that they were resolutely interested only in standing in the bookmakers corner - one of the people I spoke to was even a former Ladbrokes 'trader'.
But then again, none of us should really be surprised. However you view their impartiality, at 9.05 on the day this 'fair and open' body was instituted, the bookmaking industry would have set to work getting into them in any way possible when it comes to invitations, junkets, hospitality and 'advantages' (if you've got a private box at the Cheltenham Festival, ask yourself who the first name on the team sheet might be when it comes to the invitations, for example) It's hardly a shocker then, that this 'independent' body, that's supposed to be the protectors of 'fairness' when it comes to gambling, is actually really only interested in industry protectionism, and maintaining the stranglehold that the bookmakers have over this industry... |

Magician - as a next step, have you considered making a request to the GC under the Freedom Of Information Act, asking for any internal correspondence relating to the disclosure of confidential information on Internet forums by employees of the GC? May be enlightening.
They'll presumably use the fact a person could be identified as an excuse not to disclose the information, so request that they suitably redact it. Won't help identify the individual responsible, but will certainly shed some light on what internal discussions have occurred. |

Despite the fact that to date they have completely stone walled me and defened the alleged staff member, I suspect they will be pretty transparent at the end of the investigation lets see |

By:
I hope that he is reported to the police and prosecuted and may even phone them myself..
The man was a proven liar,a freeloader and even changed his username to mine. Then he proceeded to take the rise out of punters on here on "my" behalf... Then Betfair let him change his username back and let him proceed to post.... |

Having consulted google I think a "defamation of character lawsuit" is on the cards...

I stated many moons ago he was involved with the Gambling Commission which is Birmingham based. The fact that I later found he followed Blues added to the theory.

I've had many run-ins on the subject of FOBT's with banned_banks.
Imagine my surprise when it emerged, depsite his repeated denials, that he had a vested interest. Is it too much of a leap of faith to imagine that far from acting under his own steam on here, he was in fact ordered to carry out his long-term campaign of disinformation by his employer? |
|
By:
With his ego I doubt no one else there knew.Thought he was too smart and devious to be found out.Unlucky for him he crossed someone much smarter in The Magician.
He once posted he was so famous, everyone would be shocked to find out who he really was.As it turned out he was just another two bit lying freeloader. |

But who is he...
For fecks sake he was always a clueless lying moron.. I suspected that he was a Director of a well known Bookmaker but to be told that he worked for an organisation that are as worthless as they are clueless is a major letdown.. He was a Civil Servant and posted on here outside of his flexitime... I thought better of him... |
