Good moaning. Just back from Thirsk. Stayed overnight. Didn't really need to but there's a cheap guest house about 400yds from the course. Has parking so I thought I'd give it a try. Quite a walk to the nearest pub when you get to my age but seemed a lot easier coming back.

It was like going back to the 80’s when you could get merry and a bag of chips on a night out for a tenner ,,,, but without the chips as they’re £4 on their own

Good morning. Back to Wolves for me. I saw Satyress win at Thirsk last week. Should win again off the same mark but the odds are a bit skinny. Couple of risky ones. Joud - 6.12 Could be a plot horse, but might just be useless. Just Jump - 8.12 If ever a horse was aptly named .

Not profitable tbh. I got one at 9-4 and then Satyress but thought I had done well to get evens. The annoying one was Joud. It is obvious "they" meant it to win but it was so badly hampered at the start I all but threw away my ticket. But it came with a sustained run in what passes for a straight at Wolves and would have won in another 20 yds. Worth a look next time. Just Jump didn't. I watched it in the paddock and it was quite lively but not badly behaved. Went to the start OK and into the stalls without a hitch. Then just said " bugger it " and didn't come out. I doubt that they will let it run/not run again. The funny thing was there was quite a gamble on it. I got 16-5 5 mins or a bit more before the off,and it came into 15-8.

Good morning. I got there and managed quite well until about the 4th race when I began to tire. Stayed till the 6th though. For those who don't know it Ponte is built on a hillside and although the facilities are quite compact they are more undulating than most and I have a respiratory issue. I got talking to a bloke who has been to all 59 racecourses. He seemed worried that he had been to Chelmsford when it was Great Leighs. He did know it was the same place but it was obviously niggling him, which I sort of get. I got a fair bit on Silverella at 4-6 ( SP 1-2 ) but otherwise not a good day.

Sure that's right mad. Odd because, although it is continually on the turn,it is a very long course ( 2m ) so it's not Chester. Plus I assumed the steep incline for the last 3f at least would catch out front runners,as it did in several races yesterday.

Good morning. Norman invasion arguably the turning point of English history. Our contacts for two or three centuries before were with Scandinavia. Cn*t had an empire consisting of Denmark,Norway, most of Sweden and England. Harold, the last of the English kings, was half-Danish. We could be part of Scandinavia but for poor old Harold having to fight two battles in short order. Should have rotated imo.

Johnny Haine was the first jump jockey to ride like a flat jockey.
I remember when i first used to go racing with my dad and uncle in the mid sixties, they used to rave about him and how stylish he was

Good morning. You're right about Haine's style mwnn. I suspect Andy Turnell was influenced by him and took it even further. Apart from SS Haine usually rode another favourite of mine,Flash Bulb. I always thought he lost the Massey-Ferguson on Buona Notte, the only horse to cruise alongside Arkle in his heyday, by being too c*cky, but I seem to remember sageform disagreeing with me.
