Hello!

Few days ago I placed 2 arbs and lost money, because of the non runners - I wonder if anyone had similar experience or have thought about it?

These were 2 arbs on Bee Jay Kay (19th Jul Hamilton 20:45 1m3f Hcap)

Bet365: 50 GBP @ 4.33; BetFair: 55.51 GBP @ 4.00
Ladbrokes: 12 GBP @ 4.33; BetFair: 13.5 GBP @ 3.95
Later on few non runners were withdrawn:

Argaki (withdrawn at the odds of 2.50 on bookmakers)
Oh Boy Oh Boy (withdrawn at the odds of 41 on bookmakers)
Bee Jay Kay WON - and bookmakers paid the return following the Rule 4: Bet365 paid 100 + Ladbrokes paid 24 = 124 GBP (with no stakes included)

In the end it is equal to the odds of 3.00 (!). BetFair however have taken a much higher loss:

-39.06 GBP @ 3.89
-162.93 GBP @ 3.94
They reduced odds only by 0.06 (!). And so my loss is: -77.99 GBP

And I don't see how is it possible after 2 non-runners (favorite inclusive). Argaki must have had at least 30% on reduction factor.

I have written many emails to BetFair and waiting for their response.

However if anyone had a similar issue or problem - I would like to know how it went for you?

Thank you!

It seems quite obvious that Argaki was already withdrawn from the Betfair market when you placed your lay bet, but not out of the bookies' markets when you placed your bet.  Probably was never an arb at all.

It sounds likely that you placed the bet on Betfair after Argaki had been withdrawn which would explain the small reduction factor and before the books had reformed their markets.

Ghost, if one got £200 with the firms with the intentions of arbing, being sensible, how

much would one expect to win after a successful result?  Seems a hard game to me, a game

for the real hungry.

Ghost, when sometimes I compare prices when I want to back a horse there seems

so little difference in the prices after deducting commission it hardly seems

worth the time and effort these guys have to put into it.

u played with bookies before they had took the nr out[thus got the r4] and u laid on bf after they had removed argaki?
Report gnashersblackpool • July 23, 2013 12:20 PM BST
even thou u placed both bets at similar time.
Report Vadim88 • July 23, 2013 6:47 PM BST
I placed the bets almost at the same time.
I don't remember if ARGAKI was there on both markets, but I would think so - because they usually withdraw non-runners at the same time.

I think it explains everything - if ARGAKI was already withdrawn from BetFair - but why would Ladbrokes and Bet365 be so late?
BetFair still hasn't responded to my e-mails - got to give them a call when I am back from holiday...

There are still arbs, guys - don't know how it was years ago, but I manage to make money. At least to pay my rent.
