we have all seen bad rides in our time dancing brave in the derby etc,  but surely had a similer howler on wentworth 4,25 ascot today
lets be honest here ,looking at his last run the sporting life said it was given a nightmare off a run !  i thought the horse cannot be given the same sort off ride again . oh my god ,how pathetic was this effort ,i am convinced for what ever reason that horse was not wanted today it was never put in the race made up a huge amount off ground without being really asked ,it was making up ground hand over fist without having a race , i really think a lot off the hannon stable ,but the jockey should have received a lengthy ban for this ride , i really think a nursery kid could have romped home on this horse today ,and we all get trouble in running but he had no excuses for a 2nd holocaust ,owners are loyal bur the owner must be pulling their hair out by now regarding the antics off his last two this horse  given too this horse ,if he were mine they wd not be getting a 3rd chance , your opinions wd be welcome ,should he receive a ban ,etc , and if anyone wants to know yeh i was waiting on the horse for a £100 treble 4/1  9/2  7/2  but it aint sour grapes i can take it on the chin but at least dick turpen wore a mask ! lol Devil

if you back £100 trebles you know the score - every horse can win ,every horse can loose - why moan about a jockey on here - slagging racing off, thus given your way, leading to less people liking racing and betting on racing ,thus meaNING LESS MONEY FOR YOU TO WIN .THUS MEANING end of our hobby/fun/life.

one day you will win alot of money - and a jockey will ride that horse to help you win that money - so why slag jockeys off - you will need them one day.
Report bigmart June 20, 2013 8:24 PM BST
like i said pal i can take it on the chin but i really think you are missing the point the horse was never put in the race end off chapter !
Report comingupthehill June 20, 2013 8:26 PM BST
well ,if thats what you think - one day you will win when a horse running against you isnt put in the race - so why moan .
Report themightymac June 20, 2013 8:31 PM BST
I think he has every right to moan. It was a terrible ride and beat the guy for a small fortune. Hope you had doubles too, to ease the pain. Unlucky mate.

I would give up if I was you, WENTWORTH was badly drawn, anyone that backed it needs to see a psychiatrist,it was also under pressure from 3 furlongs out,and only ran on to catch rivals that had been up with the pace.

Watch the mount of Jamie Spencer in the yellow colour, now if you have backed that you might well have something to moan about.

bigmart - unlucky mate. U should put a lay in to keep after off as a safeguard when you bet these longshots. If you had put say 100 lay in the last race at 2.9 at least u would have got something.

wentworth could have went round again was not given a race under pressure don't think so ,hardly new it had been in a race at all ?

You must have been gutted mate. To get to nearly 15K from 200 then lose the lot is soul destroying. Hope you learned a hard lesson. Don`t get greedy, keep to your game plan, withdraw winnings and don`t leave big amounts in your account otherwise temptation will get the better of you, especially if chasing. I`m up North. Good luck!

A reputation is widely praised and reported until such incidents occur.  At that point, one step forward and two back is a normal factor in statistics;  the balance will be restored and probably tomorrow.

The horse doesn't have any first or second gears to move quickly into a gap which is why he consistenly finds trouble in running, gaps get closed before he can move into them. He didn't have the pace to lay up early doors today but when he gets into full flight he can motor. I think he will be better over a trip of 1M 2F. Don't think it was jockey error, just a case of not getting a clear run to build momentum in a 27 runner field.
Report brain dead jockeys June 20, 2013 11:25 PM BST
this is the reality.............all the jocks seemed to want to come up the centre..........hughes who had ten acres of space to his left decided to come up the centre 15 lengths behind the leaders trapped in behind 30,............yes 30 horses.........IT WAS DIABOLICAL.......all he had to do was pop out and track the leaders on the outside but no, he couldnt do it could he........he seemed intent to get behind as many horses as possible..........i have no idea why he does this. SHOCKING.

backing a horse at 7/2 in a 27 runner handicap on the straight course at Royal Ascot would n't be for me.

Bet he was n't the only one who had traffic problems but got attention because he was the highest profile runner.

I liked the effort of the second who pulled his jockey's arms out early on and was up on the pace all the way.

If all the horses had got luck in running and been given a good ride Wentworth would not have won. Go back and watch the race again and check out the run of Fehaydi. Went off at 22/1 so not high profile, hence very little on here about it. Brave of you having £100 treble on but backing horses to the sort of money you had rolling on to Wentworth in a 27 runner cavalry charge on a straight track won't pay. If you were sitting there before the off with £2750 in your pocket would you have put it on Wentworth at 7/2 ? I suspect not.
Report sir_arry June 21, 2013 12:10 PM BST
I find it difficult to weigh up whether the horse was given too much to due via a misjudgement from the jockey, or he simply failed to get going quickly enough.  Given the pace he showed last time over 6f and the fact Hughes was animated from halfway suggests he realised he was way too far back so panicked slightly.  Definitely finished the best and would have probably won had he been handier but as someone mentioned earlier I think the fact he had to track across from a high draw probably played its part in proceedings.

These hot favourites in big handicaps go down all the time and I think that it is mainly down to disbelief that they have been beaten which leads to excuses being created.  Await similar when ENROL is a fast finishing but beaten favourite in the last today!

seams too be a lot off people doing more slavouring than a poatchrs dog here what dif does it make what type off bet it was the thread was supposed to be about the riding off the horse and why their is no policing off such tender tactics ,
he gave his last mount a very sim ride ,held up miles off the pace ,finishing  full off running , a token effort in my opinion does not matter if how many runneres their were or what risk i took in taking a treble i bet the best horse in the race ,that is a fact ,and the only reason it did not win was because the jockey had no intentions off winning that said race ,
everyone id intitled too have a say but lets stick too the facts the horse was a none trier end off chapter!

poor ride yes but in a 27 runner cavalry charge shoite happens
Report brain dead jockeys June 21, 2013 2:13 PM BST
why move across behind 30 horses 15 L off the pace?.........just pop it out on the outside and keep it handy. he complicates everything.........hes great on the small tracks but when it comes to the big races, he is no bloody good.
Report bigmart June 21, 2013 2:18 PM BST
yeh yeh every jokey is squeaky clean , eh **** never happend was anchored way at the back same as his last mount , horse was not unlucky just never given any chance what so ever off winning , any other jockey in the country wd have won on that horse that's twice he has made a pure c-nt off it or it was a none trier i prefer the latter no one can ride and use tactics as bad
as this some one in the in charge needs too look at this and say no wander racing is getting a bad name for being corrupt,
or any jockey can just switch a horse off and ride when its not got a hope in hell off catching the field ,or it wd leave a gate way too legalised corruption , jockys never receive bans now a days because the sport goes un policed correctly , no one wants a horsed too be battered senseless but they are their too race not go on a picnic he cd have had a cup off tea at the back he wd never get on a horse off mine i can assure you that the owners have been robbed twice it should have won its last 2 races on the bridle put an apprentice on it i say he cant do any worse !
