Gaul Wood back to the scene where he won over this trip last year. Also previously ran well at Sandown over 7f when pretty badly hampered. Dropped 2lb and ran over too far last time. Back to 1m tomorrow and everything looks primed for a decent stab at 12-1.
Six runners today spread over all four flat racing tracks. Having scrutinised Tom's database I would be reluctant to back anything except This Is Nice.
This one was one of the highest picks in last years Stable 5 competition. It's unusual for 2yo's thought of so highly not to win in their first season. This one has ran at listed level.
Normally Tom runs his mdns to win their first run of season as 3yo's (at a short price). Very few runners on AW this year though, suggesting that they have better horses - proven by Lord Ashley.
As for the rest Gaul Wood returns to Sandown after his win there in September. Tom has a reasonable record at the track but mainly with fillies in mid summer months. There are a couple of others I'd prefer at race card glance(Bassaterre & Spa's Dancer).
Adorable Choice has won three races but never in fillies only hcp. When it wins (and often runs) it's S.P is normally 20/1 or more and that's not the case today.
Menelik was a ponderable - having ran at better class tracks as 2yo and being short priced favs in both 2yo runs. Personally I think he should have run it in maiden on first run last year rather than 3rd in a handicap. It's still a maiden and up slightly in grade today. Looking at Tom's data he doesn't get many 4yo winners in hcps coming back off a long break on first run of season (which is probably why it didn't win FTO last year. They must think it's worth keeping in training though.
Miss Avonbridge is another having first run of season in hcp and wouldn't be that surprised if she won but not for me today.
Tamaletta a first time run for this 3yo filly. Only had one such FTO 3yo winner at that was Work Shy in October at Wolver.
The single runner at Brighton with his trainer mate's jockey aboard will do for me and I'll give the 10p Heinz on all a miss.
