I am constantly having accounts closed/restricted and am fast running out of mates to open accounts!!!! This week I have had 4 accounts closed down in one name which I'm hoping is just a massive coincidence, but I wondered if anyone can confirm that I am right in thinking bookies sharing information on accounts is illegal?
How do you access the account when opened in your mates name.
Do you use his card to make deposits/withdrawls?
Do you log into the account through your computer?

I'm running out of friends too, especially since I ran out of soap. As you are so successful, consider consulting a lawyer as to whether there has been a breach of the Data Protection Act, or even if it is worth making a complaint to the OFT. My guess is that directly sharing information would be illegal but that doing so via a third party would be OK but IANAL.

Driving at 31 mph in a 30 zone is illegal but 95% of drivers do it, chance of four closed accounts around the same being a coincidence are I would say pretty high.

What type of bets do you make? Arbing? People who complain about this very rarely have regular bets.
People who come on to these threads to ask whether the people complaining are arbers are usually not very successful punters, imo...

Forget the arbing rubbish, that's just a lazy excuse from people who don't know how to win at betting. I have lost over 50 accounts and have never arbed in my life. Korals, piddypower and badbrokes even limit me on sp bets.
1) do u beat sp 2) do u take the overnight prices 3) do u make a profit long term 4) do u follow tipsters
If unanswered yes to 1 of these u r in trouble, if u answer yes to all 4 then the game is pretty much up. Lasting 2 weeks with a new account is about the max u will get before they shut u down even with different ip addresses.

I've opened an account three weeks ago, so far £2K up, account still open, not arbing though, so I guess that will explain it.

I arb, take advantage of EW in 16+ hcps, back EW with odds on chances, follow Pricewise as well as being reasonably profitable on greyhounds. Basically anyway where I have an edge I'll play. I have had accounts closed down with every bookie over the years and accept that as part of what I do because bookies only want mug punters, but having 4 closed so close together has me smelling a rat.

These days any bookmaker's computer will flag up accounts arbing and betting in filthy e/w races, so no need to share information. Or accounts that are simply profitable.

OP is a follower of Pricewise, he states this on another thread, anyone backing his tips online appears to be closed down quicker than normal.
People still overlook cookies, there's no need for them to swap account information, they have it already through cookies.
If you have a Betfair account, best if you can have it on a seperate computer.
It's the easiest thing in the world to have as many accounts as you like in relatives/friends names without them knowing it's you that controls them, believe me!
At the end of the day, in the UK (Ireland here), it comes down to FOBT's, they don't need traditional horse racing income anymore, a shop requires a minimum of 2 staff when taking over the counter bets, but only 1 to sit in the "change here" booth of what's now a mini casino, with no risk to them and a fixed/guaranteed return, whereas with racing the punter has a chance of winning.
Yesterday I had 2000/600 on Magician in a Powers shop, no problem, last night when I returned home, I had an online 1200/1000 with Powers on Enobled, it was my first time in the shop by the way. They take bets here because we don't have FOBT's, how else will they make money.
You will still be closed down if your a winner online with any bookie, in any country, but the point I'm making is, if you win in a shop here, you can always come back to the same shop or another one tomorrow, in the UK you know before you enter any High St. bookies, you're gonna be either refused or restricted to peanuts.
I'll bet you a euro to a cent, the majority of people that complain regularly on here, about being closed, refused or restricted, have never written/emailed to their MP, Council or whatever regulatory body is responsible for, or can control the expansion of FOBT's or reduce their playable limits.
Not saying you can't complain on here, of course you can it's your right, but follow it up to where it might just change things.
The death yesterday of the Ladbrokes employee(RIP), may be unrelated to anything to do with what a lot of people have said so far on here, but I don't think many of us would bet against what we suspect to be the truth of what happened or made it possible to happen.
Vent, complain or moan on here, it won't do any good, it may do some good if you spread your experiences where it matters, of the real story with UK High street bookies or more correctly referred to as mini casino operators hiding behind bookies licences.

Captain, they may have it wrong, but if you can still bet they expect you to lose in the long run.
Of course the odds are against you in the long run, UNLESS you are taking the p1ss in which case they close your account having seen what you are doing. If you appear to play the game straight they will surely allow you to go on betting because they think they are going to get their money back, but where do they draw the line and say you are milking them? This is what I don't get, clearly the people who have accounts shut-down have obvious betting patterns which set alarm bells ringing.

If you really had the game by the balls and played straight as you appear to imply you wouldn't need to go to bookies, you could bet on here, no accounts shut down as far as I am aware.

You made an assumption, and you're wrong. If by playing the game straight you mean losing, well that's not in my DNA.
You have to evolve as a gambler, the posts are moved and always have been by the high street. The differnce now is they just don't want or need the core product that used to be Racing.. So consequently any sign of a punter being smarter than a lemming, your account is demolished.
I suppose that's playing fair, as you put it?

Captain. Not being funny but I want to back a horse tomorrow. It is 9/1 and 8/1 with the bookies but I don't have an account. It is 6/1 on here. No bookies shops taking bets on it I can go to. By tomorrow it will probably be 6/1 everywhere. I just want to take advantage of the bigger price on offer tonight. It is simply wrong for a bookie to offer odds but not be prepared to take a bet on it.

If you had any sense or a true knowledge of the game and could truly beat the odds you wouldn't be dependant on bookies, simple as that.

Siralex, I'll repeat again just for you as to why they advertise 9/1 but won't take a bet, they have to appear to be a bookie, that's what their licence is issued for "bookmaking", they are hiding behind their licence in order to run FOBT's, would you run a shop as a bookies that requires more staff, can be a losing shop if people are savvy or even have half a brain when it comes to backing horses, or would you run it with four money making machines overseen by one member of staff behind the counter, have you ever read any bookies annual accounts reports, it's all there, long term financial goals, more shop openings, with savings in staff costs.
All you do is moan on here constantly, have you notified anyone about your concerns, that might be in a position to change the current situation, have you fcuk is my guess, you don't even gamble anymore by my definition, you pay people for information, then you place your bets based on this.
It has nothing to do with IP addresses, it's the computer that stores the cookie that provides the info not the IP address, technology has moved on from changing IP adresses. Getting around this to open as many accounts as you like is as simple as anything, think about it.
They don't want horseracing buisness anymore unless it's a losing mug, you're not going to change that by moaning on here day after day, so I'll repeat again, sort the FOBT problem out, then they will have to revert to taking bets again, if they want to survive, no FOBT's over here is the proof of that.

You will only pay PC if your account is already a PC paying account. They may suspect that your account is in effect your mates account and close you down, when they see the same IP address pop up.
A way around paying PC with non identifiable different accounts is already there.

@the bloob -- when you log in from your mate's house, use the browser in "incognito" aka "private" aka "porn" mode, so you do not share his cookies.
Tbh, I'd have thought premium charge or not would be down to which account you use rather than either cookies or IP address, but perhaps I am naive.

This whole IP address argument may be little more than paranoia. People logging in from internet cafes or the same companies or even from some ISPs will seem to come from the same IP address.

if people spent a fraction of their time on learning how to mask their betting, rather than complaining in endless threads such as these, they would have a much more stress free life imo.

The issue of IP addresses is complete bollocks. Most IP servers have customers on proxy services, that's why they can offer cheap internet. Customers seldom get the same IP address when they go online.

If you seldom use Bookies and only when they are best price what do you expect? Captain Christy is right. If you bet with them daily, and place plenty of bets, you get on no problem. I have winning accounts, albeit not much, about 2k each, with 2 I use all the time and get on no problem. It`s good for their overall turnover, makes their books look good and as an earlier poster said, they expect to beat me long term given the number of bets I make.

Mightymac, it's not as simple as that, have you not heard of evercookies and bacontrout your "onion" suggestion is not as successful as you believe.
evercookie is a javascript API available that produces extremely persistent cookies in a browser. Its goal is to identify a client even after they've removed standard cookies, Flash cookies (Local Shared Objects or LSOs), and others.
evercookie accomplishes this by storing the cookie data in several types of storage mechanisms that are available on the local browser. Additionally, if evercookie has found the user has removed any of the types of cookies in question, it recreates them using each mechanism available.

I reckon that in the not too distant future, arbitrage betting will be acceptable from most bookies cos more and more exchanges will appear and they'll be basically no need to use them.
I've tried arbing but it doesn't work for me. Spending about £100 to make a quid along with the paranoia doesn't seem worth it.
Here's one for you...
Something is 5 with the bookies and 5.2 with Betfair. If I back it with the bookies and lay it when the odds have dropped is this still classed as arbitrage betting???

What`s the point of starting threads like this, which happens with alarming regularity? Only logical reason is that people want to brag how successful they are as punters and state their deluded "superiority" as gamblers.

Bacon, which bookies do you know that are not using every means available to gather data?
As for Tor, one of it's many failings.
Tor anonymizes the origin of your traffic, and it encrypts everything between you and the Tor network and everything inside the Tor network, but it can't encrypt your traffic between the Tor network and its final destination. If you are communicating sensitive information, you should use as much care as you would on the normal scary Internet — use HTTPS or other end-to-end encryption and authentication.

I've definitive information to contradict your "checking".
Tor itself is often highlighted as a virus source from known anti-virus software. Tor conveniently puts this down to being overzealous and false positives.
How does Tor survive on donations alone? It doesn't. It is also a gatherer and seller of data.
There's no such thing as a free lunch. You have your beliefs, I have my confirmed facts. It's whatever you believe works (or not) for you that matters. Anyway good luck with your arbing, trading or punting, I suspect I have them in the right order.
