There should be a thread for all his runners that are tailed off I appreciate that it might run into several pages but there is no other trainer whose runners are so regularly beaten out of sight and who within a few runs regain the winning thread.

YUP---how many more times will we say it and see it----i despise the man---be a 8-1 shot in a couple of runs and bolt up
Report jonjon • April 30, 2013 3:48 PM BST
It's getting beyond a joke now.  What is more blatant. Is that they are ALWAYS 'backed'
His drifters don't tail off
Report million1 • April 30, 2013 3:49 PM BST
and i never had a bet in the race
Report nellie1970 • April 30, 2013 3:50 PM BST
no doubt it will be out next week and shiit in
Report Giblet • April 30, 2013 3:50 PM BST
leave Johnston alone, that guy makes me plenty laying his jollies, pity i'm too compulsive to bet in other races.
Report jonjon • April 30, 2013 3:53 PM BST
I seem the price this morning and was waiting all day for it to see if it held 'support' then it did and I fully expected it to be tailed off.... I dunno why I stood aghast as it did indeed!! Come tailed off last. Hahah MJ is such a complete t wat it's beyond a joke now
Report stridingedge • April 30, 2013 3:54 PM BST
he's no different to most trainers with his favs

if you are laying you are being selective so the trainer is not the most relevant factor
Report stridingedge • April 30, 2013 3:55 PM BST
Favourites    633    263    42%    58.06    418    66%

johnston favs all races on good/firm or faster

Favourites    1881    687    37%    -159.98    1152    61%

the above for all his favs since 2003, nothing out of the ordinary, better than many trainers.
Report million1 • April 30, 2013 3:59 PM BST
what about this season ?
Report Biscar Two from a mile back • April 30, 2013 4:02 PM BST
Its not that they get beat its the fact they can be beaten half the track and run again within the month and pi55 up
Report stridingedge • April 30, 2013 4:02 PM BST
2013    49    18    37%    -8.43    31    63%

i'm not saying he's not layable with favs but certainly no blanket system
Report stridingedge • April 30, 2013 4:02 PM BST
exactly biscar
Report million1 • April 30, 2013 4:04 PM BST
cheers
Report silvergreaser • April 30, 2013 4:04 PM BST
agree biscar its the remarkable transformations and usually in stronger races than the ones they were tailed off in.
Report Biscar Two from a mile back • April 30, 2013 4:04 PM BST
Nellie Bly at Lingfield there, beaten 62 lengths 12 days ago leads till inside the final furlong, btn a length and a half today
Report million1 • April 30, 2013 4:05 PM BST
biscar---exactly
Report taipan501 • April 30, 2013 4:13 PM BST
just another rancid operation. defo giving the horses something for them to tail off/perform so badly
Report barkinggreville • April 30, 2013 4:30 PM BST
But MJ never has a bet
Report barkinggreville • April 30, 2013 4:31 PM BST
Not sure about Deirdre and that lad of his though
Report pauli • April 30, 2013 4:31 PM BST

Can't argue with the always trying thing though I've always found him very trying
Report million1 • April 30, 2013 4:33 PM BST
and to think they have started in the greyhound buisiness---god forbid

Mojave Desert 2.50. Virtually pulled up last week.
Report stridingedge • May 1, 2013 2:41 PM BST
this ones been shocking bix in 2 runs

trip should have been ok too

just looks a very modest animal
Report silvergreaser • May 1, 2013 2:46 PM BST
50/1 so it would have to have a treble dose of Al's concoction to figure but nothing would surprise me with this stable?.
Report stridingedge • May 1, 2013 2:48 PM BST
hannon and johnston similar number of runners last 7 years

hannon horses tailed off last run btn 30l or more:159

johnston:413
Report stridingedge • May 1, 2013 2:48 PM BST
*last 10 years should have been (since 2003 )
Report silvergreaser • May 1, 2013 2:53 PM BST
Interesting stat edge,

Sir Graham Wade didnt exactly cover himself in glory when 9/4 2nd fav last time, much better race today usually the cue for a remarkable transformation?.
Report stridingedge • May 1, 2013 2:56 PM BST
yes looks like one of his ones silver greaser

improvement then a bit of a stall, people think no more improvement then another pb after a moderate run (especially if upped in trip).

i suppose with SGW, fitness could have been the reason for 1st run.
Report nellie1970 • May 1, 2013 2:56 PM BST
well that sure improved from nowhere
Report taipan501 • May 1, 2013 2:57 PM BST
he and fanning are fooking disgusting individuals
Report silvergreaser • May 1, 2013 3:00 PM BST
And some people still defend this rancid mob religiously?, his luck has to run out sometime?.
Report Diamond_Joe_Quimby • May 1, 2013 3:00 PM BST
amazing what a difference 9 days makes Crazy
Report stridingedge • May 1, 2013 3:02 PM BST
one of the best aw sires shamardal, ran an absolute stinker at kempton lto Laugh
Report silvergreaser • May 1, 2013 3:04 PM BST
edge, getting back to SGW 3 of the 4 horses who finished ahead of him were also having their first bow of the season.
Report stridingedge • May 1, 2013 3:09 PM BST
perhaps this horse really needed it a lot

was beat miles from 2 to 3 debut then won next time.

wouldn't be surprised to see it much sharper, not a betting race for me though.
Report stridingedge • May 1, 2013 3:12 PM BST
* i get that the 3yo debut may have been too sharp (10f) as won when stepped up.

be interesting to see, just never know with MJ.

i think its best to stick at his fav courses/race types

he is very good at southwell with 3yo track debutants (30% from 150 runners). also very strong at beverley.

most of hte time though i just have no idea what sort of horse is going to turn up at the track. i think more of his are tailed off because they are so aggressively ridden, if they are not spot on they end up out the back after blowing a gasket.
Report silvergreaser • May 1, 2013 3:15 PM BST
as grade one tracks go he likes Ascot and Goodwood and is very fond of these staying flat races.
Report stridingedge • May 1, 2013 3:34 PM BST
i think this one will win silvergreaser

just cannot bring myself to back it though Cry
Report silvergreaser • May 1, 2013 3:54 PM BST
Well we got one thing right edge predicted a marked improvement in form stand by for it to tail off next time at 4/6?
Report stridingedge • May 1, 2013 3:55 PM BST
decent run wasn't it
Report JetLoneStar • May 1, 2013 4:02 PM BST
And another LaughLaughLaugh
Report stridingedge • May 1, 2013 4:04 PM BST
i just backed stouteys there very good with mdn 3yos against elders in hcps, especially upped in trip 1m+

johnston only 8% with 4yos in the 3yo+ hcps Shocked
Report silvergreaser • May 1, 2013 4:15 PM BST
5/2jf beaten around 56L's last of 6 in 10f race on good to firm ground should be virtually unheard of, he must be taking the proverbial p---?
Report jonjo • May 1, 2013 4:21 PM BST
Joke ride from Fanning, it was like he just didnt fancy making the gap his own, then we get the usual, half-@rsed slapping down the neck with the reins for a stride or two, before the virtual pulling up of the horse.......
Doubt there'll be anything reported, but you'd think any half decent pundits would be more questioning of the action (or lack of it) from the saddle?

Wouldnt be the biggest shock if this thing ran well in the next, might get a soft lead????????
Report stridingedge • May 1, 2013 4:25 PM BST
dropped a lot for 2 runs

should be competitive off 75 if back in form but ???

more likely his type of race to get one of these to win

couldn't touch it though
Report stridingedge • May 1, 2013 4:27 PM BST
really like stoutes backed it last time and it needed every yard to get up lto. will improve but so could a few others.

left it alone today
Report stridingedge • May 1, 2013 4:28 PM BST
apologies

i actually bottled backing it lto because of trip
