Ripe for a bit of a turn-up today I feel. The horses that ran in the gold cup are usually not at the same level, and even if they are, the only one who is going to appreciate this ground is Long Run. With him in the field, hopefully setting a strong pace, and deep ground, the race could be set up for a dour stayer. Enter Quito DLR, who has been through a spell in the doldrums, but seems to be running into form now. He won a nice little race in March, then was beaten under 10l in 4th behind Flight L at Aintree. I think he has every chance of turning that around on this ground, which he much prefers.
He may or may not be quite good enough to win, but he's not far behind the best of these on his best form, and looks much more likely to show his best form than most of this field. Looks a very solid each way to me, 14-1 is too big a price.
I fancy Long Run myself, started another thread saying soft ground and this distance would seem the ideal combination for him. As long as he doesn't mind travelling we could see a peak performance from him.
