He had finished 3rd prior to that, when Fav at Bath.

the year tap on wood won the guineas,who won the craven.

Winsor Boy, the 3rd horse, was the one that nearly dragged Piggott through the stalls at Epsom a few years later, and half ripped his ear off.

...not that he had much use for it.

He had to ridden hard for the final 2 furlongs. Not surprising really, because the filly giving him a tough race was Abbeydale, who ran 2nd in the 1000gns.

The Craven has burst many a bubble. 1992 springs to mind,anyone remember Forest Tiger? Sent off favourite after being hyped by his trainer Moubarak and finished last   Alnasr Alwasheek won the race and a certain Dr Devious came second.

Loved the horse , when we were dancing in the disco , we'd sing " Tap On Wood " . instead of " Knock On Wood " who ever sung that song ? .

the one most remember is ami stewart's disco rendition not the original.....tap on wood only steve cauthen's 2nd ride in a classic. finished 5th on topsy in the 1,000....only ridden marquee universal to victory in march at salisbury on his first ever uk ride .

I had the the privileged of looking after his dam when she was at the INS , Having backed  her a few times during her racing carrear  , she was the most beautiful mare i ever saw , and i saw plenty , A beautiful chestnut mare she was the most graceful walker . pleasant memories indeed ...

cj180 - speaking of the Craven and some 'bubble-bursting' performances...To Agori Mou was beaten at odds-on by Kind Of Hush, who I think was a 25/1 poke!

the craven i remember most was the one doyoun beat warning. navel gazer ,do you remember the Cecil horse that ran in the race?

Sanquirico...but I had to cheat!
