Banker of the day for me. I think he hasn't got the credit he deserves for his World Hurdle win. People are fixated on the absence of Big Bucks and seem to have concluded it was a weak race - it wasn't, in terms of depth it was the strongest for ages, everyone wanted a go at it.

Solwit is a prolific winner who has won about 7 grade 1s, and but for Hurricane Fly his G1 tally would be well into double figures. He has a turn of speed that nothing else in the race does. He takes his racing well, handles any ground, has won at the meeting before, and beat his main rivals last time out. He won't care if there is a breakneck pace or a crawl. He never wins by very far, that's his style, but I think he did it pretty easy last time. Celestial Halo won't appreciate the drying ground and has a pretty poor record at Aintree. Snad Place is probably the most likely to come on from Cheltenham and will probably appreciate the ground, but he looks too slow to trouble Solwit to me.  Banker material, much like Dynaste today, he should be much shorter.

He STILL isn't getting due credit imo. For him to be a longer price for the WH than At Fishers Cross is an insult. As good as AFC is, he's only won novice races, and I think he was flattered to beat The New One. Solwit absolutely hosed up today, pulling right away with his ears pricked, never out of 2nd gear.

Big Bucks is a monster, but come next year's World Hurdle, he will be a monster who's 11 and hasn't run for 2 years. Solwit should be favourite.
