It's the Timeform way.
About 10 years ago I saw Jim McGrath doing a preview at Cheltenham on Trials Day. He tipped the fav in every race. If memory serves they all got beat. |

timeform not a patch on what they were years ago

Thinking outside the obvious, questioning anything, walking at a different beat to the rest of the crowd - none of these things are going to take you anywhere in the racing media.
Look at Clod, he's been freeloading for over forty years by never saying anything contentious, and putting up the favourite in every race ('I tip one in three winners, Mr Sun editor, sir')..... |

Timeform is for Free anything thats for Free... is worth nowt . hope that helps
ok its an old saying but its true . zipper |

Millhouse any tipster putting up the fav every race will get 33% winners ..why 33% of favs win 67% of em get beat
take Alan Keyte tipsters in the Western Mail ( its in the post naps table) 84 winners 60 losers .. P/L -£2.40 in fact the guys in profit about 8 of em could not buy a good bottle of champagne between em .. end of The guys at the bottom of the table well they are the pits |

They were pretty awful yesterday. I find them to be like zealous salesmen: they want to hype a product. They totally dismissed L'Unique yesterday.
|

By:
Zipper, the media platforms just forget about the losers and focus on the winners.
99.9% of all 'analysts' on TV and in print are unprofitable, but that doesn't stop them getting paid to regale us all with random noise... |

I fully agree with you Bishop. I used Timeform extensively in the 1970's and 80's and their ratings and comments were very good in the main. Now I only purchase the 2 annuals from Timeform in order to keep my collection up to date.

Timeform will quickly let you know when a top-rated horse wins a race; however they also say not to blindly back the top-rated horse. They want the best of both worlds!
|
|
By:
Ratings in general are the biggest waste of time. They are simply a guess put in numbers form.

Judoprick will have you for that remark,DJ.

Millhouse they all make more sense withh the mute bottom on
by the way do you remember the mighty Millhouse what a horse won me a few bob many a time |
|
By:
The bloke this morning showed the ratings for the National, and even though On His Own wasn't top-rated he said 'boringly' he was going to side with that horse.
|
|
By:
They show the ratings with about 5 ilbs covering the first 20 runners like the Lincoln.
Throw in a few Ps or +s as guesses and you've got "Ratings" as good as Timeform. |

zipper 05 Apr 13 12:30 Timeform is for Free anything thats for Free... is worth nowt . you continue to pedal this inaccurate statement....Timeform ratings are NOT free...their best product imo, Computer Timeform, is over a grand a year...the free stuff is massively watered down. HTH. |
