The Stewards noted that the winner, JEZZA, had interfered with BROUGHTONS BANDIT, placed fourth, in the final furlong, but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved JEZZA’s placing.

Even more unbelievable is the racing post analysis!
"Capellanus wasn´t suited by dropping in trip when finishing in rear in a 1m4f handicap here 28 days previously having won a ´Jumpers Bumpers´ here on his penultimate start. Returned to the C&D of that success he travelled strongly and was seen cantering 1f out. His rider waited to the last minute to get after him but despite running into traffic his finishing effort was disappointing."

I went out earlier so didn't see any races but just watched the replay,
comments after the race are with HINDSIGHT but as the race was panning out, Lee was there with a gap and at a crucial moment, both horses in front of him veered and closed the gap, how this can be deemed as his fault is beyond me,
yes he could've gone to the outside but that is with HINDSIGHT !

he was unlucky alright but I can/can't see it as the jockey's fault,
afterall he only has split seconds to make decisions but we discuss it afterwards with hindsight !

are you a racing jurno? ur being very nice to graham.
the point is, I am commenting NOT having backed the horse and as such, can be impartial,
but I can also see how I'd be gutted if I'd backed it and see it lose the way it did !

I get the feeling he's going to get a lot of stick on here compared to his winning rides, last seasson his rides were underbet considering it became more obvious he was improving.Lets hope the same happens this season coming!

If that had been Kelly or Ahern, the forum would have gone into meltdown.
It wasn't a split-second decision, he had ample opportunity from before turning into the straight to ease to the outer, and only did so when it was all too late. He lost a race he should have won, imo.
Since changing codes, Lee had an incredible amount of praise heaped upon him by the gravy-train merchants, every time he rides a winner, we're told how magnificent he is. There must be jockeys in the weighing room wondering 'wtf'?
Well tonight he got one badly wrong, and not for the first time according to some. Lee shouldn't be exempt from criticism, and that was one ride he deserved to be criticised for, imo.

spot on george.........the gravy merchants are spineless..........luke harvey first said there was no gap and then when the issue of lees mistake was brought up he said the jockey made a split second decision to go for a gap............but it wasnt there luke was it so what are u talking about.........there was a massive gap to his right

Yep bad judgement, but i think you'll find that his bad rides will always be like this as he gets horses so relaxed and thats why he gets so many dodgepots back to winning. He almost rides as though overcomposed and if you notice his rides rarely have hard races,he has a quality that most don't almost educating horses in winning thats whats so impressive as you know they will win again. He reminds me of fallon with his temperament obviously not quite as good as the master!!

I agree with you george, and I backed the horse big time.
Graham Lee is a very good jockey but in this race he completely fecked it up. If he had only switched it outside Jezza he would have won two lengths comfortably.
He deliberately took a pull and went inside, expecting a gap to appear that never did, but maybe he should have expected Luke Morris´s mount to go left considering Morris had his whip in his right hand and prefers to whip them on his right.
But it was NO split second decision...
