I dont think that very many punters on here use betting on racing as there only full time job with no other job income (if any)? gd luck & well done if so.
My main thing for "extra" income comes from The Flat Season & has been the case for many years now (since mid 80s) The NH season is a much smaller play for me (as is football). Eg; my max bet on NH racing on 1 race would be £100. On the Flat its £400 on 1 race. |

^ and your Betting Bank is what ?
By:
100 x 400 = 40000

By:
miller you sound like you work so you can bet, that or you've got a directors job,£400 one race

tom.
My way of betting will no doubt be very diff from yours & most punters. I dont bet every day, far from it. You and 1or2 others seem to have mis-read my post a bit. My "max" play on 1 race is £400, but like most sound punters i only play that amount on a very few sellect races on the flat. All punters will (or should have) a min & max bet in how they do things. On the working front (sub-contractor work) i have not done any during the flat season for the last 4yrs, as i play the Flat Season on a full-time basis now. |

facts,i know what you mean about betting out of your comfort zone, but if your winning money regulally then i cant see a problem with upping your level stakes by say 5% a month which i would say would keep you in your comfort zone, after 10 years doing this i hate to think what mixys stake would be today
By:
cyprusal, you could easily become a victim of your own success, what I do suits me well,
on my 1st segment of my strategy increasing stakes in that sphere would imo surely lead to failure. |
By:
mix,i have first hand expeirience on betting out of your comfort zone,i reckon its cost me a good few quid over the years but i would find if i didnt at least try and up my stakes a little at a time over the months it would feel like i was doing a job with no prospects and no chance of a pay rise, which is exactly why i started on here in the first place,i suppose its everyone to their own, happy punting

Impossible as there are far too many inpondrables, and cheats ............... I was talking to a user who thought he could win on here last 100 bets ............
8 dead 32 finnished last 34 finnished 2nd and the rest unplaced or fell or pulled up 8 jockies received bans for various offencies he had numerous horses drifting so I will name a few 13/8 to 9/1 6/4 to 11/2 6/4 to 9/2 5/2 to 15/2 and some people think they can win there is only one winner and thats betfair charging commission. |

its an expensive hobby but I know people with more expensive and less exciting hobbies.

you're wrong - hth. |

cyprusal
You're correct. I increase my level stake each month - if the previous month's profit had increased the bank by sufficient points. Monthly target is 20 points( I only bet one selection - to win - each day), any surplus over this at end of each month is put into a 'reserve bank' |

The answer to the original question is yes you can make a living on here.

Facts ............ how can you bet against owners trainer jockeys farriers vets they know more than you ....... everyday you see the corruption it doesnt matter if its group races or sellers there is some cheating going on ................. and some people think they know ............

By:
I bet one horse only a day. I'd be very unlucky if my selections were affected by any/all of the stuff you allege goes on.

not allege . fact it goes on and its covered up by the stewards . as on the other topic hold up horse taken it to the front simple as beaten , a couple from earlier ... filly went into season before the race what did they do to get it beat simple as run it. odds 5/2 to 9/2 result finnished last, 2 year old second run at kempton first into the stalls stood there for over 7 minutes before the others were loaded result stalls opened and the 2 year old had worked up that much it finnished last odds 5/4 to 9/4. I could tell you the story of a christian jockey swearing on the bible that he tried on a horse result finnished last ( he was caught out as I know his brother and his brother laid the horse on flutter dot com) yet for all the christian he was ment to be he still lied

anyone can read or be taught how to read form .
it's how you interpret it and what you do with it that counts . |
By:
Its not just reading the form, you learn more by actually watching the races.....
By:
yes koikeeper , i usually say "knowledge and judgement" . i guess watching and remembering comes into the knowledge side of things
By:
"You can't beat the bookie". The bookie always wins".It's a mugs game"." It's all bent" etc.etc.All this negative nonsense is part of our culture. If you've got a brain, the truth is rather different.
By:
You can watch all you like and try and interpret .................. then its luck that you are on a tryer ...... what home work can you put in watching the race? one horse in particular last year 5/4fav, race weight 40 kg more than when it last won. So where can anybody get information like that required to bet a winner?
By:

i guess by being on course and seeing it in the paddock at both races . yes , it is luck that you are on when it's trying , but that is where the judgement of "is it trying today " comes in . |
By:
or should i say , if you owned it , would you want it to be trying today ?
By:
if you owned it, would yo want it to be trying today?
A wee incident that hapened 2-3 years ago my nephew and his colleges owned a horse, they went for a touch on it at a northern course , Trainer said it was fit and raring to go and 6lb better in than when winning a race, the going was perfect, draw perfect, fitness perfect, distance perfect. top northern jockey not so perfect told the owners when getting a leg up "im giving this an armchair ride today as I can get my money on it" result finnished 7th of 8. 12 days later it ran and bolted in owner had only half the money on it they should have had as they had it on the first time. odds 9/2 to 12/1 |
By:
thats ment to read cannt get my money on

By:
we know ? what is it you know?
By:
i said 'we' know.
By:
winning v the bookies is a piece of pish (while your accounts last) , winning on here is another thing entirely
By:
what exactly is it "we know" ? could you please elaborate
kelly i would love to give you guys my email and everyday you have a bet email me to verify your winnings at the end of the day/year. I would honestly say none of you would show a profit (im not trying to be argumentitive) its a misconception about winning. |

Why dont the people who say it is possible to make a living on here post their last 3 months P&L ?
Will put quite a few peoples minds at rest that "it can be done" however i have a strong feeling there are several Bull$hitters on this thread who are pure dreamers who simply want to look good an a "FACELESS" forum & therefore will slip quietly into the long grass only to reappear when this thread is long forgotten by some. #Justsaying ![]() |
