You really are delusional, you're a lowlife, loser and a waste of space, voted as one of the most vile posters on here, nothing but racist, homophobic, and horrible remarks on threads about dead people, all to get attention because people wouldn't interact with you otherwise.

i myself have been a victim of these fobts and its a very slippery surface to say the least, wont be going down that road again ,quickest way to the poor house by a long shot.they are described as the crack cocaine of gambling and i couldnt agree more, dont know if anything can be done to stop them i think its just a case of treating the wounded, but i would like to see them banned from so called high st bookmakers, more like high st mini casinos

If these FOBT are random how can they be paying out 97%-98%..
I read a few years ago each machine makes on average £4000 pw profit. If people believe bookmakers aren't targeting deprived areas then just look at all the shops opening up,how many are opening up in middle-class areas? |
|
By:
rab67,
good evening. Each machine makes between 900/1000 per week profit, i.e. average shop four machines = 4k . |

Halcyon,Do you have any link on this figure or do you know?
Anaglogs, The shops are already there it's a bit late now. If you come out of the main entrance at Glasgow Central Train Station there is a Whill Betbald and Laddies all lined up one after another.I can walk out my front door and there is 10 shops within 10 minutes walk. How many of these shops would close if the FOBT where banned? |

Multi-channel gaming group Gala Coral saw an increase in both turnover and profits in 2012 with the company’s newly launched websites helping to push it on. The firm’s turnover hit £1.189billion – an increase of 6 percent compared to the 2011 figure of £1.117bn. That contributed to an increase in statutory gross profit from £854.7m to £923.6m and it meant EBITDA was up 11 percent to £291.4m
“2012 has been an important transitional year for the Group. We have restructured into key operating divisions, bedded in a new operational management team and invested in our retail estate and online systems. This has resulted in the first growth in profitability for over five years against the backdrop of a difficult environment for retail and leisure businesses,” Carl Leaver, group chief executive admitted. Gross profit for the firm’s entire interactive business increased from £68.1m to £76.1m with turnover up 6 percent to £3.8m. This was mainly down to a strong growth in both actives and revenues from the group’s Coral.co.uk site, which was recently relaunched on the Playtech platform. The site saw sports betting amounts staked increase 26 percent year-on-year and that’s without taking the Euro 2012 numbers into account. Gaming gross win also grew 31 percent ahead of the previous year. Gala Interactive’s stable of sites benefited from the Playtech treatment and as a result saw strong growth in active customer levels, as well as amounts staked increasing by 7 percent compared with the previous year. Italy is another market that Coral has an online interest in and their turnover increase of 14 percent and EBITDA uplift of 23 percent was driven by “strong performances in both sports betting and online gaming.” This was reflected in an increase of 22 percent in online sports stakes with the number reaching £65.7million. As for the remainder of the business, their sale of 23 casinos to Rank Group is still ongoing with the Competition Commission’s preliminary findings set to be published at some point later this month. Summing everything else up, Leaver added: “Our retail businesses experienced some softening in top line trends over what was a disrupted summer period, and these trends have continued into the new financial year. On the plus side, July saw the launch of our new galabingo.com website, and early growth from both this and the new galacasino.com website has been positive. With the re-launch of the coral.co.uk in October our new interactive businesses are now fully up and running and we are targeting significant growth over the forthcoming year”. For starters ,how could ANYONE take any notice of what GEORGE GALLOWAY has to say?A really repugnant individual!

As soon as FOBT's are mentioned ,the usual load of total tosh is spouted.Like deprived areas, problem gambling etc. etc.
Nobody, repeat nobody is forced to enter an LBO and play on the machines.Anyone with half a brain would say I can't afford to play as money is tight,if they are unemployed. Go into any LBO in any town and you will see foreigners playing on the FOBT's,many of them here illegally, not able to speak English. As from from Feb 1st. all profits will be taxed at 20%,so at least the illegals will be paying tax, collected by the LBOs. Tonight millions will be drinking themselves silly, harming themselves, there will be fights etc.,hospitals will be busy, yet this is accepted behaviour, and even encouraged. I will never understand the misjudged concern for people willingly playing on the FOBTs. I had a girlfriend that died from heroin, nobody forced her to mainline, that was her chosen path. If punters want to self-destruct chasing fools gold, that is their choice. Not everyone that plays is a compulsive gambler, there are plenty that enjoy an occasional spin of the wheel,or spin of the dials,or even a few hands of blackjack. |

Although the figures quoted by the ABB appear to be persuasive they are in fact all smoke and mirrors for the reason that that several contribtors have explained, namely that there might be over a hundred spins per hour which will rapidly reduce a starting sum of say £100 to zero given the addictive nature of the activity. As a consequence the view of Philip Davies is disgraceful Would he allow people the freedom to sell heroin? The view of Kris Hopkins is disappointing particularly since he is my own MP.I will think twice before campaigning for him in the future.Gerry Sutcliffe is sitting on the fence as usual and he should know better.Of course the most culpable is the Gamblig Commission which is charged with protecting the vulnerable I'm afraid this organisation is not fit for purpose.I dont normally have much time for George Galloway but in this case I hope he stays on the case.
