Nick gifford is a clueless trainer

Amanda Perret is the worst by far, primarily coz she actually wants to be a success. Tim Fitz couldn't give 2 fux about training Love

Alan Berry couldn't train a fly to land on a piece of sh1t.

mark rimell's parents weren't in racing and never trained, but I agree with the sentiments.

Young Pipe has very loyal owners...spent a fortune of their money with very little in return.

13 year old thread but very much one that can be continued.

Would never include Nicky Richards in any such list. The northern circuit was markedly on the decline when he took over at Greystoke and he’s very adept, and old fashionedly patient in the placing of his horses - has had more than his fair share of bad luck with some promising types picking up injury or worse just, as they were progressing up the ladder. However, there has been a recent one where the patient approach probably pssed off the owner  - Getaway Frankie, ran two stinkers on his two starts over hurdles, looking like he lacked schooling on the first run, then was moved to Tristan Davidson and won at 40/1 - these three runs all in the space of less than two months.

Alan Berry actually did OK in his first couple of seasons, the drop off not too dramatic, though admittedly his father probably still had a big input at that early stage.

Tim Fitzgerald took over the remains of an operation that had long had its day and there was literally nothing equine wise for him to oversee. The significant owners with the yard had long moved or passed away.

I see Paul Webber got in at number 12 - a truly shocking trainer, befitting that the ageing oddball Roger Waters patronised the yard.

I believe charlie hills is a poor trainer compared to his father , his horses have no consistency and many run like drains
Report Mics July 14, 2025 9:01 PM BST
Also I'd say Tom george son the one gone to france to train , it's beyond me how top owners give him horses,  he wouldn't train ivy up a wall
Report ponchoslament July 14, 2025 10:30 PM BST
Ya need da horses,
Report ponchoslament July 14, 2025 10:33 PM BST
Bad horses will make you look a bad trainer.
One thing I learned about trainers is they cant
Make them go quicker, but some  of them make
Em slower ?
Report Cardinal Scott July 15, 2025 1:48 PM BST
Juddmonte don't appear to support Charlie Hills any more why is that? Khalid Abdullah probably supported his father 3 decades +

Tilsit won a Group 2 for them in 2021 but I have never seen a runer for them in last 2 or 3 seasons.
Report stewarts rise July 15, 2025 2:07 PM BST
Noticed from one of the early posts someone put up James Moffatt. Firstly i can't recall who his parents were as trainers and secondly he's very good.
Report Cardinal Scott July 15, 2025 4:25 PM BST
Jack Channon will never enter that list, I am in awe of his strike rate considering the quality of animal he has in the stable.

Cardinal, when I see a Channon horse
In a decent race, I look to immediately oppose it

It was the same with his old man’s horses
