I think not personally. II think racing is dominated by people with views similar to W Haggas , B Hills etc,but if anyone could tell me there are socialist trainers, jocks, owners out there id be very interested.
trainers and jockeys are trying to win. well most of the time.
Socialists want a 10 horse dead heat.
Cant think why anyone would want to be a bitter, jealous socialist tbh...

Phil Bull was extremely left-wing. Robin Cook who was fairly left-wing was a racing columnist. Brian Taylor once objected ( successfully ) to a winner for The Queen. Sir Mark Prescott is a member of the Socialist Workers party.
Can you spot the one I made up ?

Have read anything by Fat Al for a couple of years though he seemed to like to think he was a socialist - no doubt one of the Champagne kind. Paul Haigh clearly held left wing views. Not sure if he was a genuine one or a Champagne one.

I remember when Monet's Garden won one of his Old Roans - Fat Al, instead of attending as a recing journalist should was in the Kop supporting Arsenal. He wrote an report on it in the RP which included something like ' When Fabregas equalised my son jumped up with his hands in the air - i kept silent and still. A man behind tapped me on the shoulder and said, ' don't worry Alastair, we don't hit kids'
What a load of sensationalist cack !

Not true. I was in my local Laddies the other day and saw my MP and Lord Lieutenant of the county Sir Percival Bullivant-Smythe being dragged away kicking and screaming from one of the infernal machines by his minders. They fear for their wages. It was a tragic site.

if socialists had their way, we'd all be rich and could all afford to have horses in training and the sport would be booming, rather than in the hands of an in-bred minority
wildman i don't think that is true at allif socialists had their way, we'd all be rich and could all afford to have horses in training and the sport would be booming, rather than in the hands of an in-bred minority
I think the majority of owners are probably left wing socialists, while most big owners are right wing.
almost all trainers and bookies are right wing fascists who believe it is their right to rob owners, punters and stable staff so that they can all remain millionaires (a bit like thatcher's fascists did to the people of this country).
the trainers and bookies have all the money in racing and they don't care who they have to kill to keep it that way. (again a bit like thatcher's government did to this country)

It`s interesting what is now considered right-wing and what was at one time. Andrew " Bert " Black was one of the founders of this company. Many think his disappearance was the start of the decline of Betfair as a customer-friendly outfit to the faceless corporate robbers they are now perceived as. There might be a bit of truth in that but having read young Mr Black's blog he sounds like a typical 21st century Thatcherite/NuLaborite ( and to an old fogey like me there is little difference.) The point is his grandfather Sir Cyril Black, whom I vaguely remember, was seen as a right-wing Tory MP. BUT he was pre-Thatcher so his right-wingness wasn't quite the same. My memories of him are as an authoritarian upholder of obscenity laws frothing at the mouth at the publication of " Lady Chatterley's Lover " and also at early TV satire such as " That Was The Week That Was " But his views were not so much what we now think of as political but were mainly driven by his evangelical Christian beliefs. As such he was one of the fiercest critics of his own government's liberalisation of gambling ( the introduction of betting shops ). I imagine he saw horse racing as the work of the devil. Ironic innit.

aji i am having supper tomorrow night with a very right-wing trainer and a right wing ex jumps jockey, they welcome this left winger with open arms and vice-versa
my trainer in the uk is a Tory councillor yet for me, on a personal level, you couldn't meet a more socialist person
