1.18 (2/11) to place AMAZING

Very few bookies have an opinion nowadays.
Report adge October 20, 2012 7:53 PM BST
a fair assumption you might think.
opened 1/5 ..sp 2/11
30,000 people all there to see frankel win. 29,500 either backed frankel at 1/5 or just watched the race. virtually nothing for anything else.
now , whilst there are long lines of punters all wanting to back just one horse , can i ask what price you would have offered and how much would YOU have stood it for .
i hear you all say you could have it all back on here.
so what do you do when that same long line come back after the race holding their hands out for instant payout ?
Report bluenose7 October 20, 2012 8:03 PM BST
Leave the paying out to the bag man or tic/tac or even the "runner"  Devil

While you go for a "stiff" drink.  Wink

adge,

good evening. You could of bet without the FAV !  Cool

Mind you, the 2nd FAV would of been about 1/5 !!   Laugh

adge,2/11 to back with books on course 1/3 to back on here whats your point caller?
Report bluenose7 October 20, 2012 8:10 PM BST
Most of the winning punters had no ticket either.

I worked for a bookie (who was a bit~old~school) gave the punters a "nickname"  Confused

I use to think to myself.."Did he really call you that"  Shocked

Cool

the point is explained , mmm .
another question is why do these nutters want to lay 1.3 on here a well backed 1/5 chance on course and how much longer can these , clearly , clueless individuals survive .
i suggest that you take advantage while you still can
Report adge October 21, 2012 10:07 AM BST
i just wonder who the layers are who fully knew the offered price on course was 1/5 [ and well backed at that ] , yet for whatever reason [ please explain ] wanted to lay between 1.3 and 1.33 right up to the off.
it's easy to read this from a backers viewpoint , christmas come early .
but can someone explain this from a layers perspective.

note...many , many small bets on frankel will never be cashed btw....the ticket is worth more than the cash to some

Some serious after timing going on here adge!Grin
But seriously there must be many thousands of small layers £2, £5, £10 stakes on here who will lay anything at a short price 1/3 because its a small price with the mindset that shorties do get beat!
Also form wise he was racing on the worst ground he'd raced on over a distance he'd only raced over once before, with probably the best horse he's raced against running on its preferred surface.
The question is Adge did you take advantage?
Report barry dennis October 21, 2012 10:33 AM BST
simple answer, on-course, lay the firms £3000-£15000, have £9000 @ 1/3 with the clueless mugs on here, get it beat?, £6 grand profit or break level, is that a crime?
Report elisjohn October 21, 2012 10:59 AM BST
imo the biggest robbery was ante post 1/10 frankel, 9/2 cirrus, 6/1 nathaniel
Report SPIDER PIG October 21, 2012 12:01 PM BST
you bookie chaps, print off a load of £10 wins on frankel from yesterdays race then sell the tickets on e bay for £20 .
if the buyer decides he wants to cash them in he gets £12
but will probably frame it .i wonder if i should go on dragons den with this idea .
Report HAPPYHARRY October 22, 2012 11:09 AM BST
THE TRUTH TO MATTER IS.THERE ARE NO DECENT BOOKMAKERS ABOUT.
THEY ALL WANT TO LAY YOU UNDER THE ODDS F..K YOU AS MANY WAYS AS
THEY CAN.THAT IS WHY ON COURSE BOOKMAKING IS FOOKED SOUTHERN BOOKMAKERS
ARE ALL TOERAGS.IF SOUTHERN BOOKMAKERS HAD BOOKMAKERS LIKE JONNEY RIDLEY
WHO WILL LAY YOU A BIG BET EVEN MID WEEK RACING. PUNTERS WOULD COME BACK RACING.
SOUTHERN BOOKIES WILL ONLY LAY WHEN THEY ARE HOLDING PLENTY OF FIELD MONEY.
COME RACING????????????

[b]inning punters had no ticket either.

I worked for a bookie (who was a bit~old~school) gave the punters a "nickname"

I use to think to myself.."Did he really call you that"

Punters who didnt get tickets were known as 'faces'. Often shouted a bet in, given the nod that your on and paid up or were paid out after the race (especially at the dogs).
