I have just ordered computer tf flat and was sent the installation disk, looks like my initial attemps to install haven't worked so the woman sent me a email with the correct procedure, my new attemps are now saying that time form is already in my directory does anyone know the way to strip out the files before attempting an install again?

Possible answer, Go to control panel and programs. If tf is in there then uninstall and then try again.

it could be that it's already created a folder, and when it tries to create it again you're getting an error.  Somethings to try:

1) Rename the folder/directory that's causing the problem.  To rename right-click and select rename, changing the name so you put an X before it should be enough.

Let us know if that works.

It looks like the first attempt to install left an instance of SQL on your machine. You need to remove the whole shabam from your programs and re boot your PC and start from scratch.

All that said, you pay good meoney to Timeform so you should ask them to talk you through this process. Its a common fault.

SQL is a standardized query language for requesting information from a database

PS -

if you havent 'done' much on ur computer since the first try simply try system restore

start
all programs
accessories
systems tools
system restore

pick a time date/time prior to timeform first try and then click on restore

will put whole of computer back to state pre install and once done try again

NOTE - will lose any saved data since restore date - so not an option if you have done 'other stuff'

see you AM oor', enjoy ya dram!

Hi I am not sure how Raceform works but killing SQL (MS Sequel Server ) may impact your Raceform . Normally if you fail to install Computer Timeform it leaves an "Instance" in your registry which is a pig when trying to re inatall.
You need to delete all programs with SQL or .NET in the name but I stress you need to check what impact it may have on Raceform.

Messdage me if you need any help as I dont normally use the forum and a friend asked me to post who uses this.

Raceform uses foxpro so don't think it will be affected in any way by MS SQL.

rebooted my laptop tried to install again and one again it failed.tried it on another pc and failed again, phoned the help desk and that was as much use as sunglasses at 2 in the morning.use tf primarily for there timefigures seriously considering compiling my own.this was once a company that was reliable not any more.

Why they ever moved from the old ms access computer timeform nobody knows. The new version is just as crap but the back end is far more complex (weird and meaningless field & table names), is much harder to install and has far more things go wrong with it. It will be another case of some outside IT mob taking a company to the cleaners for making their product worse.

So time consuming compiling figures if i knew of a company who compiled accurate speed figures i would subscribe in a heartbeat.

Also are you running windows XP, Vista etc?

windows 7 yeah ,seems to be stalling at the stage where its suppost to go to the clean up,from then on it fails to respond. Its now getting to the stage that i am about to give up.The girl at the desk tried to help but i think that the product itself is sub standard.

wullie, someone said on here a couple of months back they were told by tf it wasn't compatible with windows 7 and that tf had no intention of upgrading it.

Timeform have been a shambles since Pink Jim left.  RF have a great product but their speed ratings are an embarrassment sadly...

re: windows 7 yeah ,seems to be stalling at the stage where its suppost to go to the clean up,f

when you say clean-up, do you mean it says something along the lines of "... we are checking for previous installations..."
By:
Feck N. Eejit
When: 05 Oct 12 18:09
wullie, when you contacted the help desk were they aware you were using windows 7. If so, and they didn't advise you of the incompatibility, it may be that they've attempted an upgrade since flanders spoke with them.

Windows 7 was never asked about feck, have cancelled my subscription and used the initial payment to have a look at race passes.got to say the first impressions are favourable, very dear mind and i am from north of the border so whether i continue to take the service is debatable.I have been taking timeform products since the 80s and it is quite sad to witness the company possibly in decline.

If only timeform was owned by a leading technology company and then such glitches wouldn't happen!
