Just have a great day.

Your daughter's getting married so it's a big day for all of you.

Presumably, you're only bricking it as you don't like being the centre of attention/making speeches. As the bride's father you don't have to be funny or clever, just heartfelt. Pay compliments, thank people etc. If you're really nervous, ask your daughter if you can make your speech before the meal. That way, you can relax afterwards and enjoy the rest of the day.

I'm sure the day will turn out far better than you imagine. All the best.

If you're up to it over the next couple of days let us know how it all goes.

Thanks a lot gents. You have me.I am not a comedian.Tend to get very emotional,I will probably be blubbering throughout the speech,it's this that I'm worried about, not the actual speech as such. What a wuss.

Joos,

Don't try and be what you're not.

Everyone (especially women)loves a bloke who is capable of showing his emotions. If you need to blub just blub. It just shows how much your daughter means to you. Fair play to you. For coming on here admitting your bricking it just shows how much tomorrow means to you and what a great dad you must be.

You won't let your daughter down in any way. Always a good idea to big your own missus up a bit as well! However, the only poor thing about tomorrow, depending on the time of the wedding, is you may well miss Camelot's bloodless victory at 3.40 (This is a horse racing forum after all)!!

Saw my Dad on the way to church and he said 'Don't look so worried son, you're giving your daughter away today'. 'If you saw the florists bill Dad you would see I'm not bloomimg 'giving' her away at all'.

Make notes on bits of paper and take them out of your pocket to read out. We are gathered together here today to celebrate the wedding of my daughter to her boyfriend 'pure and simple'.

She's pure and he's ....' Oh I wasn't going to use that.

My brother was married last week, everybody was naturally nervous during the week leading up to the big day. Despite a few minor glitches (which are to be expected), the day was grand and enjoyed by all.
I wish you well and don't be worried about shredding a tear or two. Must be one of the proudest days of a fathers life and many of us will not have the privilege to give a daughter away.

no moves - maybe not (no kids then? Jaffa????)

Maybe you're just a little bit jealous as presumably you haven't got a daughter? Please confirm if I'm wrong?

In the meantime - best of luck Joos. You'll have a great day.

Many thanks again guys.Daft as it sounds I never thought of fathers not having the honour,of giving away their daughters, because of not having any.(I meant that,as I have written it,due to Areyoutalkintome's earlier reply and not to cause any upset or insult). This will obviously help in the battle of the tears.
