A double lock, handmade Italian leather briefcase has just been placed on the counter of a major high street firm, inside the briefcase is a brown envelope, inside the envelope is a wad of money, used bank notes of course. The elderly woman behind the counter was instructed that two horses were to be backed e/w, and that no phone call to head office was necessary, this was no ordinary punter, this was Wittaker Chamber, and he meant business.

Whittaker Chambers was a Soviet spy and a member of the USA communist party, he later renounced communism. I'm not sure he would have been comfortable with his namesake being involved in the shady world of horseracing.
