Have a losing account with them, don't use it very often....

Tried to put £20 on a 7/1 shot.  Message displayed, "Your stake is too high....."

Tried £15.  Message displayed, "Your stake is too high....."

Tried £12.  Message displayed, "Your stake is too high....."

Tried £11.  Message displayed, "Your stake is too high....."

Tried £5.  Message displayed, "Bet accepted, please deposit money...."

sent them a message - "you site has kindly allowed me to have a £5 bet. Can I pay you with a Wispa chocholate bar as they are more expensive?"

Yes. About 400,000 a day based on latest reports... Obviously they are a business not charity and they're free to accept or decline any bet they like.

They put up 7/1 on a very glossy website. But their "business" plan does not enable them to accept an £11 bet from a losing account?

The overheads for Laddies to maintain the website, pay the traders, telephone staff, rent, heating and light bills........  must far outweigh any profit they are making on £10 bets.

Maybe I send them a consultancy bill of £100k to explain how I can save them a fortune?

Consultancy? They don't appear to be struggling profit wise.

If people want to arb then good luck to them, but why do they insist on boring the rest of us with their tales of the big bad bookies refusing to take their bets..

By:

Maybe your right... Ladbrokes just decided they didn't want to accept this £20 bet from a perfectly innocent losing account for no particular reason.

Even so, of course they are perfectly within their rights not to accept it. If it is in all innocence they'll be no problem getting on elsewhere will there?

Dear David Williams.... er, I mean Clive..... if Laddies are now a casino for FOBT's only, can you please refrain from filling ATR advertising breaks with that grating McCririck ad and please take down the "Bookmakers" sign from all your High St shops on yer way out.

Otherwise a lawyer citing you for misrepresntation will be paying you a visit next week.

Dear Robert

Thank you for helpful feedback, here at Ladbrokes we are always looking for ways to diminish our profitability and facilitate those arbers unable to take a position themselves but keen to cry foul when the professionals do.

The word bookmaker doesn't appear on any of our shop fascias as our success comes from the brand recognition built up over 100 years of trade but i will certainly pass on your comments regarding our current TV campaign.

Many thanks for your continued custom, remember there is nothing virtual about a winner.

Kind regards

Sad B*stard

No matter how truthful you are about bookmakers you will always get handful who slavishly work for them coming on here and defending them. These poor souls lack any perspective from both a personal point of view (who would want to be associated with such an industry) and a punter point of view.

Certainly wouldn't have had the same brand recognition if it was based solely upon your last year of business strategy. Though the brand has to be credited, considering they continue to get away with undermining their loyal consumer base when offering their woeful book on each market. Just have to check oddschecker for the evidence...

Can I have £100 on terminal 2.  No only £20 sorry.  Ok can I have £100 on the favourite on the next race at Ascot.  Of course no probs take a price?

We can dream.  Bookmakers don't take bets of any significance anymore.  Might as well replace the tv screens with another 4 fobt terminals.

Another new r unt from the trading floor at Laddies...Minimum wage at best...

"Yes. About 400,000 a day based on latest reports... Obviously they are a business not charity and they're free to accept or decline any bet they like."

That type of statement will come to haunt the alleged Bookmakers when the inevitable EU inquiry takes place...

The last time I looked at the rules to apply to be a bookmaker they were defined as people that layed bets to win and lose..

Any half decent brief in a European Court would have the licences off the UK chancers in an instant..

I may even take them to Court myself as with all these non-runners I have nothing better to do......

Mr Snap, another plant, must be a quiet day on the Laddies "trading" floor...

There will not be "Bookmakers" in that hand of cards..

There are not two UK Bookmakers left in the world to make a pair....

This happened to me tonight as well for first time. Was just looking to stick on £15 on a race tomorrow. I'm not an arber but noticed they were stand out best price on a horse today took it (just at maximum flat bet though) and laid part off here. Coincidence?

Stop knocking them,  They ain t No 1 for nothing, unlike The fat Oafs favourite,Spoilsports, asked for 6, yes 6 ew a 16/1 shot, and went further back and back un til thet accepted 6p, yes, 6p, in other words, enough to win ONE pound.   They are the pits, and NOBODY, but nobody gets any on with them, despite Mccririck saying they laid this, and that, why do Channel 4 allow this un-ashamed plugging of a firm that take nothing, but there again, they got a bit act to follow to try and beAT "THE POWER"

Clive 82, imo, is either:

1) A billy big bollox bookmaker 'trader' so unbelievably p1ss poor at his job that the only way he can reconcile this is to delude himself that the hundreds upon hundreds of people who are better than him are all arbers.

2) An integrity-lite media freeloder happy to collaborate in lies as long as the freebies keep-on-a-coming.

3) A losing punter of some stature....

Standard inane response.

Obvious to all and sundry that you will be offering little value to your core customer, when you are so wary and reactionary to the threat of the arber.

Even an industry mouthpiece has noted this....

there margin doesnt need to be so competitive as they have an entrenched customer base, this of course is short sighted in itself.

For the purpose of objectivity, your prices were competitive (comparing the overround to competitors) last evening, though the markets in their early form, are fickle. The stereotypical, over the counter consumer will not be aware of or likely to access that early  market.

Tested the max bet on fav Christmas Light in the first at Musselburgh today.

Max allowed is £26.50 win for £49.69 liability.

Can't even get £23 on the 9/4 fav Sheepclose in the first at Southwell either

Maybe that select committee musing over whether to allow Laddies to remove their £100 limit on FOBT's will care to ask if they will grant the same license to Laddie's customers who don't want to commit hari-kari?
