Starspangledbanner won a couple of group 1's in England, at least 10 lengths slower than Black Caviar, and Alverta beaten 1/2 length in group 1 in England, 20 lengths slower than Black Caviar, what have we learned, English racing is overrated pish. cheers.

We learned that she was a good horse, not a great one.Ryan Moore said she looked a mess,Peter Moody said she was A1.One of them was wrong.

The point is that it was the first time she had raced outside Australia,so her form here is what counts to us.She was beating horses of unknown ability over there,to us.Her form in that Ascot race is what we calculate.Times on flat ice rinks over there mean nothing. She ran slower than a handicapper of limited ability carrying more weight. And Frankel showed who is the best, can you admit that?

Can you even form a sentence without mentioning Frankel?

The rules re steroid use in Aussie Racing are different to Uk are they not ?
In Australia they can't run with any prohibited substance in their system such as would be picked up by post race dope test. However they 'spell' horses regularly and some may be given steroids so as when they return to full training they put on an unnatural amount of physical bulk ( such as Hulk Hogan in his prime) . This gives them an unfair advantage against European sprinters and this was the point Mark Johnston made a few years back in relation to another Moody horse ; Magnus. I believe there was an intention to test horses hair after races as analysis could then trace steroid use for up to 9 mths previously. This would clearly inconvenience the Aussies. Back home and returned to usual 'diet'form will improve perhaps ? |

Veni Vedi...............LOL ![]() ![]() And you know I was a fan. ![]() ![]() |
|
By:
Btw you are right about epicure.........not very bright........down to DOPE tests the UK would lose most of its bar staff.........not to mention Paris.
The world is a bit short of great Aussies.........especially explorers,why? ![]() ![]() |
|
By:
judging her on one obviously below par run seems silly to me
If thats what we have to rate her on then i guess she is more highly regarded in the UK than Dancing Brave was by Americans |
|
By:
Tobermory.........the only reason she went to the UK is because Ascot paid her expenses and her connections earned a good few $$$$$$££££££££s.
A one off job by Ascot and foolish........they knew they only had to beat GP2 animals at best.nap ![]() ![]() ![]() |
|
By:
yeah the sprint division is pretty 2nd rate but she has been by so far the best
I do think though she ran way below her best form and Immortal Verse would win a couple of Group 1s this season |
|
By:
TBF they went, they saw..........they LOST imo.
BC never came near a track record despite her obvious superiority at home. Plenty of UK sprinters would have stuffed her in the past. |
|
By:
of course when i say Immortal Verse i mean Moonlight Cloud
![]() generally the Aus sprinters have been better or at least same level as the best in UK .Choisir beat some really good UK sprinters from what i recall, better than those around now. And the Aussies rate Black Caviar a different level to Choisir et al .It just so happens that he ran up to form over here and she didn't , though still won, and would have won decisively but for the jockey |
|
By:
Is she there yet???? Is she there yet???? Is she there yet???
|
|
By:
You live your life Tobermory..........and no disrespect ever intended........but pastel coloured houses have more substance than Black Caviar.
She is/was decent.......but summed up her Antipodean roots as being average at best........no wonder they swerved Hong Kong,Singapore and the Knackered llama Jump in Japan. ![]() ![]() |

What have I learned? Humans can be so very strange. It's like a success starved tennis nation that has no shortage of similar types who revel in Andy Murray's "failures". A guy who mixes it with the absolute best...gives his all yet, so far, unable to climb that final peak. Howls of derision from a tragic bunch, sounds familiar, eh? That's what I've learnt! I've learnt to judge a career on it's merits. Not one Grand Slam or one particular Horse-race ![]() Is she there yet???? Is she there yet???? Is she there yet??? We have to admit the aussies sprinters are better than ours and she is apparently the best of the lot. She has won 22 straight for gods sake, why do so many of us want to pick on her!! If Frankel went to Oz and won the Cox Plate by a head I would hope the Aussies wouldn't judge him on that run, no matter what he beat. Punters who knock a horse thats won 22 from 22 are in the wrong game!!
