CAMELOT ....WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED?
By:
we've learned that certain aussie forumites will snap your bait off and take 200yds of line with it

And to think the Aussies mention her in the same sentences as the great New Zealand horse Phar Lap. What a insult to the memory of Phar Lap
By:
and the Kiwis
By:
She was so good she won the race twice.
By:
so is Shane Watson and Brett Lee who cares

We've learned that the Camelot/BC/Dancing Brave/Frankel/Brigadier/Tom**** & Harry debates are the most tediously boring threads that have well passed the sell by date , if I never hear any of the above names again it'll be too soon.
If discussing mythical horse races in which the outcome can never be proved is the main topic of conversation on here then the banded figure of 98% losing customers looks just about spot on. For the record I hate all these potential 1/10 shots clashing in the same race as it reduces the opportunity of a nice place over broke for real punters to take advantage. Time for some to get to grips with real horse racing and leave the fantasy racing to Portman Park & the Fairies. Good luck today everyone ![]() |

That she can go half way across the world run well below form and still win.
By:
She was "world famous in Aussieland". That about sums her up. First SYT and now her.
By:
I think Dandy Boy in the race afterwards just told you the calibre of horses she was beating...The 2nd and 3rd in her race might have finished 8th and 9th in the Wokingham

that moody was able to come over and end up saying 'job done!'
THAT is what racing is all about, the result and those 'bread-stealers' have put it over us. pity they couldn't have put 'croc' on the plane though. well done you aussies. |
By:
I hope they come to the Olympics with a less arrogant attitude then Moody did.
By:
Perhaps they will bring her to London has a show-jumper.

She'll look nice in her Compression suit in Dressage.

By:
Moody is a typical aussie, confident and you can be assured 'they' look after us, as I can testify. one could not have been welcomed and cared for better all those years ago when I took a horse 'down under' and opened a few eyes,MS winning twice and second in a group one to turf ruler in the oakleigh plate.
the press room was a wonderful place, full of genuine, racing-mad writers. real people. |
By:
they had very little to gain in the first place by bringing her over here.....and maybe now they may wish they hadn't. But it was a very sporting move and she did still win when unable to show her best. So well done all connections.

Aussies are wonderful. . .What about their press

That "black caviar" is the only caviar in the world that is such a small price.

By:
three great 'press' names, keith robbins, jack elliott and bill collins, just about the best and most accurate race-caller I've ever heard.
real men who weren't frightened to have a proper bet, believe me and you can. |
By:
Moody has a better vet in Australia then Henderson.
See his commnets from other years about using substance to aid training horses. Can be googled very easily. |

By:
we have learnt ............ SHES A DONKEY!!!
By:
She travelled and she won----Dancing Brave--Selkirk--John Henry--Oscar Schindler---travelled intercontinental and finished almost tailed off--------hardly donkeys
By:
Dont worry about the Olympics Australia will win more medals than us they always do---Supine racing press natural habitat UK----with due respect Dandy Boy would have been out with the washing in the Diamond Jubilee
By:
She had traveled half way round the globe, had a jockey that was over confident, didnt look in the wing mirrors and thought the race was over 1 second before it was looking at the big screen and Black caviar had sustained an injury and she still won, now I have learned that you simply dont see that very often if ever again and she is certainly a wonder horse.

no , just giving the lady some credit

I doubt Ascot will be so keen to finance any other so called flying machines from Auss in future.

By:
Trust me Ascot would pay double---I was there it was a raceday like no other made so by some great Australian racegoers----and a great patriotic punt--------my worries are next year will seem "rather dull"
By:
I think she won a group 1, job done. cheers.
By:
Group one just in name and prize money ...Average race with average horses ran slower then Workingham handicap ran later in the day.
By:
We learned that P Moody has no manners
By:
She beat the other aussie horse SOUL by a length, i think that proves she ran probably ten lengths behind her best. Cheers to the aussies for bringing her over, gutsy move and she won going half pace!!
By:
we also learned that if your horse is just above average then ship it over to australia where it will become a superstar.
By:
That 106-rated Dandy Boy could have turned her over with half a stone in hand had he been entered in the Golden Jubilee rather than the Wokingham.
That if Society Rock went to Australia he could sit down in the stalls every week, forfeit 4 lengths, and still beat everything bar Black Caviar. |
By:
We learnt that it's extremely difficult to maintain the same level of performance when you've travelled halfway around the globe, and to race at a completely different track and under completely different conditions (Dancing Brave - Santa Anita springs to mind). A tremendous sporting gesture by all connections as they had so little to gain and so much to lose..
By:
That it's very hard, for a filly in particular, to be dragged from the Australian winter to the British summer and still maintain her form - it's a miracle she won, imho...

Wokingham Stakes winner Dandy Boy to step up to Group One class at Newmarket
By Sportsmail Reporter Dandy Boy will try to bridge the gap between handicap company and Group One class after being supplemented for the Darley July Cup at Newmarket on Saturday. But Aidan O’Brien’s Excelebration, who had been touted as a possible for the race, has not been declared. Dandy Boy, trained by David Marnane, was last seen winning the Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot. He has been added to the July Cup, along with Richard Hannon’s Strong Suit, at a cost of £30,000. Marnane told At The Races: ‘He pleased us going into Ascot and has pleased us as much, if not more, since coming out of Ascot. We sat down and had a good chat, he won well at Ascot and we decided to take our chance. ‘He’s been a phenomenal horse for us and to win a third big handicap like that in the manner he did shows what a good horse he is on his day. He’s a fragile horse and when they are right and well you have to take your chance. ‘The ground was just good at Ascot, it was touch and go whether he would run because of softer ground but he’s a little bit older now and he is fragile so maybe he enjoys a bit ease in the ground now. I think he moved better at Ascot on the slightly easier surface.’ Miler Excelebration. who has been thumped by Frankel in two runs this season, was missing from the 21 entries but O’Brien has declared his Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Power, as well as After and Reply. Ante-post favourite Bated Breath, second in the King’s Stand behind Little Bridge, stands his ground for Roger Charlton, with James Fanshawe’s Society Rock being left in after his unlucky fifth to Black Caviar in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at the Royal meeting. Hoof It, part-owned by golfer Lee Westwood, and the Paul Messara-trained Australian raider Ortensia are other notables with in-form jockey William Buick set for the ride on the latter. Ortensia was a disappointing ninth in the King’s Stand Stakes but Messara blamed that effort on getting upset before the race. He is expecting a much better performance. He said: ‘Prior to the King’s Stand, she didn’t seem to handle the environment. She got upset in the pre-parade ring and broke out into quite a big sweat. By the time of the race she was very revved up and agitated and had run her race before she had even got there. ‘She ran an average race and pulled up with a sore back but everything’s settled down now. Darley July Cup, William Hill bet: 3 Bated Breath, 7 Society Rock, 8 Strong Suit, 10 Hoof It, Ortensia, Power, 12 Soul, 14 Sepoy, 16 Libranno, Sirius Prospect, 20 Dandy Boy, Fire Lily, Krypton Factor, Mayson, 25 Reply, 33 After, Hitchens, The Cheka, 50 Elnawin, Hawkeyethenoo, Genki.
