SHE WON

AND UNTIL FRANKEL'S CONNECTIONS HAVE THE @@S TO GO ABROAD I FOR ONE WON'T CRITICISE

People really should think for a moment. Frankel would destroy I now think. But she'd beat any sprinter of the last 20 years at her best, that clearly wasn't it though.

And it might sound like a cop out, but all you have to do is look at some of the form from this year and last year lined up with star witness, he'd have beaten her on today's run.

Well... I repeat - WHEN FRANKEL goes to ireland/france or Sg/HK/Jp and wins in THEIR backyard by five lengths THEN I will crow... but at the moment she won on a tough track having travelled 12000 miles and I'll give her the benefit of the doubt
Report wildmanfromborneo June 23, 2012 4:03 PM BST
You can`t judge her on that run alone, everything was against her the ground the draw and the track,i laid her for plenty because of that ,i think she is a champion but would like to bet she is heading straight home.

I am as disappointed as most Somerset,I wanted to see a superstar and despite the things apparently against her we did not see one.Soba would have murdered her to name just one of her own sex that ran here and she wasnt the best ever.
Report themightymac June 23, 2012 4:07 PM BST
Greatest racemare of modern times, no doubt whatsoever. Different class. Unbeaten in 22 races, including 18 G1 and G2 races, and remember she has travelled half way round the world, raced on a track that didn`t suit her and on ground that wasn`t her favourite. She wasn`t at her best today and yet she still won. How many horses would have clutched victory from the jaws of defeat after the riders error so near to the finish. She was toying with them. Laughing at them. Treasure the moment and stop being so negative.
Report Somerset_Moan June 23, 2012 4:09 PM BST
I think he didn't know they were inside him

He knew he had the horse to his right beaten and he never looked left (I've only watched it live and one replay but that's my first instinct)

ANYWAY... She did pick up well mid race and went two lengths clear and I saw enough to say that on GF ground she'd be frightening

I backed three in the race to place and two did so I'm happy - no money made or lost - just glad to see their @@s rewarded and I DO hope PKA and SHC do the same

Just go and look at Soul's form, since he left Australia but particularly in Australia.

In Aus he couldn't get within 4L of horses who couldn't get within 10 of her.

And he's been even worse since he left Aus.

AND HE WAS 1 LENGTH BEHIND HER TODAY!

toomy?  Your point is??

She's won

She's won DESPITE the course, the ground, the draw and the jock... AND despite a 12000 mile trip

WHEN one of our sprinters does it to them I will shout to the rooftops

and

WHEN FRANKEL finally goes abroad and stuffs Grp 1 domestic horses on THEIR tracks I will shout... but til then...

Moonlight Cloud beat Zoffany over 10 lengths. How far did Frankel beat him? Three parts was it?
Report mac99 June 23, 2012 4:19 PM BST
Well said  Somerset , Frankel is one of the greatest Horses of all time but nearly got beat
by Zoffany last year !  She is a fantastic Mare and on quicker ground would have been clear at halfway . I backed the second because i thought she might be vulnerable  on the ground and track ...The rating she has is fully justified imo
Report Jack Bauer '24' June 23, 2012 4:19 PM BST
She should stay over for the Nunthorpe where I'm sure the race would suit her better, rather than going back to Australia with her reputation diminished.
Report Somerset_Moan June 23, 2012 4:20 PM BST
Brigust...

Don't try and make any form points here

Frankel only beat Zoffany under a length because Queally made a stupid mid race panic move and went for home five out

BC only won by a head because the jock stopped riding

SO form is irrelevant

She showed nothing we we led to believe BUT I will give her the benefit of the doubt as ground/course/trip (stiff 6f)jock all played against her... STILL she did go two lenths clear at one point and I'm sure she's a beast on good to firm

Just DON'T try and dress the form up

Frankel will never run abroad - Sir Henry Cecil made that pretty obvious when interviewed Tuesday. Sir Henry knows just how difficult it is to travel afar, particularly USA for Breeders Cup. and win no matter how great the horse.
Report tommyjone June 23, 2012 4:25 PM BST
Wouldn't put it totally beyond them Somerset.

Look at the time, look at the horses around her in the race (in particular soul). If you think that's the BC that won the newmarket by eased up carrying top weight then you need your head examined.

Like I said, soul's form in aussie was at least 10L off hers and he got within 1 today.
Report Somerset_Moan June 23, 2012 4:29 PM BST
Well - SHC has said he sees no need to go to the STATES... and I agree - why run on ground as firm as a car park against doped up locals

BUT that is no reason NOT to go to france or Ireland OR to Japan/Hong Kong

If SIngspiel/Pilsudski/Snow fairy can travel I SEE NO REASON FRANKEL SHOULD NOT and I'm afraid for all I idolise Frankel and have huge respect for PKA and SHC the fact the horse has never travelled takes the shine off it for me - I simply don't think we will ever know how good he is until he's streteched and that is not going to happen over 8f (there is NOTHING in Europe that will get close over 8f) Even 10f here will only mean he is the best EUROPEAN horse. Until he beats people abroad I will have regrets...

Somerset_Moan, agree with your last post but i think the debate about who is the best horse in the world should finish now. Pity Deacon Blues is injured and Dream Ahead retired, BC may have finished 3rd or 4th if Society Rock had got a clean start.

I was there

I have watched it a dozen times

NO horse would have won other than Frankel ridden like that.  Hills went too fast on the poacemaker (he's a pr1xk!) THEN he started panicing looking over his shoulder, TQ pressed the turbo FIVE out and went by him and went clear WAY too early... It's NOT a race to base ANY point on, trust me...

you really are a world class ****ing idiot

defied everything you mugs have said she had to defy to win, the 30 hours flight, the settling in at a new climate, the wet track, the undulating track, probably wasn't at her best and still won

give yourself an uppercut.

If you are asking me HS my point is that she is well respected. She is a Group 1 winner and is obviously a classy filly. Do you understand my point?
I could say Dream Ahead finished 7 lengths behind Frankel and 7 and 3/4 lengths behind Moonlight Cloud.
I could say Dream Ahead Beat Goldikova a head, who finished a length behind Canford Cliffs who finished 5 lengths behind Frankel and that makes Moonlight Cloud in front of Frankel.
I could but I won't.

BRIGUST - DO YOU READ posts before you reply - go back and read ALL my posts here!!

I have been backing BC up - I believe she has won DESPITE everything being wrong and I have said I AM NOT going to criticise

It is pointless trying to compare - she is the best sprinter around and won despite everything

He is the best 8-10f horse in Europe. PROBABLY the world - that's what the form guys say and what i believe but will I ever get to see him destroy SYT/Camelot over here and the japanese horses in their back yard, go to france/Ireland and beat up their derby winners on THEIR courses? Until I do I will be unsatisfied and will feel that sentimentality and a desire to protect a record and the name of the trainer after whom the horse is named has played too much of a poart

THAT is why I am happy today - the Aussies had the @@s to come here and despite everything going wrong they still won

But don't try and turn it into a Frankel v BC thing

Brigust - stop trying to compare form - it doesn't work across continents

STOP trying to compare BC and Frankel

STOP trying to crab Frankel based on your perverse reading of form

Stop trying to suggest her form on flat tracks on firm ground and times in Australia mean ANYTHING here

She won

We're happy - well those of us who are neutral are

Just take that and forget this desperate need to keep chipping away at Frankel - it does your arguments about BC no favours as it makes you appear very SUBjective
Report G1_Jockey_4 June 23, 2012 4:59 PM BST
that was not an off day though.

imo they over hyped her even though form lines through midas touch said she was not as good as people thought.

she moved fine through the race and even without easing down last 50 she woulnd not have won by more than a length.

on the other hand had society rock started normally she wouldnt have won.
Report tommyjone June 23, 2012 5:00 PM BST
There you go on again G1, selectively looking at form.

You use Midas Touch in a race in which she jogged.

Yet you ignore soul from today.

Are you just been purposely biased or do you always lose on the punt?
Report brigust1 June 23, 2012 5:01 PM BST
You don't think her jockey had an off day? Even he said did. He should have ridden her more conservatively and when they went for home it should have been decisive.
And about Society Rock, Moonlight Cloud absolutely mullered him last season so the 'bookies love horses with excuses' thing may be true.

because of the lack of quality in depth, their horses go up and down in distance quite dramatically with ease. There is no competition for their top animals at home.
