The winner did nothing wrong looking at the headon.
By:
winner will keep it

Saint Baudolini looked desperately unlucky there

official...positions remain unaltered.
weighed in. |

c'est la vie
By:
Saint Baudolini was an absolute jailcase beat there
best horse in the race for sure imperial monarch is a slow animal |
By:
i like the italian sprinter later on elise...noble hachy. took 10/1 earlier.
By:

TheTrainer...JOINED TODAY.
On what possible evidence can you class Imperial Monarch as slow ????????? |
By:
seems to have cracked french racing.
By:
he's been given two soft leads to be fair, but at least he's taken advantage
By:
yeah the slowcaoch was only going faster than anything else once it stretched its legs.
By:
Flyingbolt, on the evidence that he has no apparent tactical speed judged on the race we have just seen

"tactical speed" given the absolute traffic jam in front

checked the replay a few times and there was not a lot the jock could have done.
he was stuck most of the way round. |
By:
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Priceless. |
By:
Yes G1 but he was there because that was where he chose to be.
By:
how can you choose to be somewhere with horses in front and both sides??
had a choice in the straight and chose the inside....which was wrong. he never had any choices for quite a few furlongs before that |
By:
the horse didnt have the tactical speed to acquire an early position
By:
Presumably if he lacked tactical speed it was a pretty stupid decision to run him?
By:
Just caught the result. Winner's price astounding. Can anyone on here ever recall a 33-1 shot return a Betfair SP of over 600-1. Won a Gp 3 on penultimate start and beaten 3/4L by Kesampour last time out. Bewildering stuff.

G1
He had plenty of time to take a better position before the straight. Even when they hit the straight a blind man could see there was never going to be an opening on the inside. He should have switched outside straight away. The main damage was done in not taking a better position earlier. As for you TheTrainer as the horse never came off the bridle until after he'd been hampered you are guessing.........badly. |
By:
yeah he was on the bridle at the back of the pack, he actually got a cleaner trip than most until they turned in, no barging about running up the back of horses on the way round, he was pulled wide and got outpaced for a few strides, then ran on.
decent stayer but too slow for a race like this. |
By:
Watch it again.
He ran in the back of horses and lost at least 3 lengths and considerable momentum. |
By:
You can't blame Joseph because the French were being French. It was a messy race - as was expected.
By:
ive watched it 4 times from start to finish, his lack of tactical speed has got him in alot more trouble than he should have been in.
Saint Baudolino got murdered the whole way, watch him and you see a horse who would have been passing rivals on the bridle if he had the gaps, the same cannot be said of Imperial Monarch. |
By:
"THE FRENCH WERE BEING FRENCH"
wtf is that supposed to mean ? Did he think they were going to move over and let him up the inside ? |
By:
They came round that bend and all looked to come inside as they always seem to do - "the French being French".
His inexperience wouldn't have helped but it didn't even look as if he wanted to come up the inside, he was just left with no place to go. They concertinaed, that wasn't Joseph's fault. It was supposed to be a Group 1 race ffs. |
